Bought a long sleeve cycling top and tights from evilbay. Seller is UK based and got them to send photos before bidding. Won the listing and guy offered me a short sleeve top and shorts as well, so I bought them too. (via paypal gift)
Kit arrives on Sat and it's all fakes, cheap copies of team replica kit. I contact the seller who it turns out knows the stuff is fake! He offers to refund me if I send it all back but I ask him to send me money to cover the postage. This has gone back and forth since then and I've said I'll report the item to ebay and pursue my money through paypal.
The guy won't budge and leaves me a couple options i) report it and try get money back although prob won't get the money for the short sleeve stuff?
ii)send it back, cover the postage myself and fingers crossed get a refund for the full amount
I guess the sensible thing is to send it back but it infuriates me that he knew it was fake and will clearly sell it again. Plus I know at least one other buyer has bought a fake set of kit too.
Prob should have just sent it back in the first instance not sure what to do now?
Why would you pay PP gift for fleabay stuff?
Had something similar recently - bought some boots that turned out to be a different size.
It looks like you are not entitled to refund of return postage (which is very wrong) in most cases. Luckily my seller agreed to refund the return shipping too, although I'm still waiting.
Normal paypal for long sleeve kit then gift for short sleeve which wasnt through ebay
Maybe shoulda send it back get the refund then leave neg or neutral feedback explaining the kit was fake?
"via paypal gift"
There's your problem. Send stuff back and cross your fingers i'm afraid.
I'd send it back, postage will be £2-3?
postage to me was 5.70 but yeah can prob send it back cheaper than that
guess i'll send it back, need the cash #moralsabbatical
Can i report an item after ive sent it back?
Can i report an item after ive sent it back?
If you can, I definitely would.
The short sleeve item is outside eBay so you are on your own with that as you paid as a gift.
The ebay purchases are "not as described" as they are fake. The seller does not have to refund the return postage. You could ask for a refund of the return postage unless he wants negative feeback and reporting to ebay for selling fake goods. eBay take a strong stance on fake items.
That said as a buyer you should be aware that if a branded item is very cheap then it is highly likely to be fake.
On reflection, I would be grateful to just get all my money back and put the return postage down to experience. Make sure you send it tracked.
yeah i've done all that Matt, he's not bothered it would seem. It wasn't especially cheap tbh so didn't think it was fake.
I'm going to send it back wait for the money to appear then leave appropriate feedback and report it if I can.
Just cut it up and ask PayPal for your refund.

You're probably shafted on the gift purchase though
That's the situation i had envisaged geoff but it looks like they want sellers and buyers to sort stuff out themselves and the process is long winded and probably a pain in the arse. 🙁
