After a building project at home we are looking for some driftwood to put in the lounge, the sun/sea bleached stuff... Having biked around the coast a bit looking for some, we wondered if anyone knows a good spot where its washed up....

Any ideas.. we are in Musselburgh and have looked east to North Berwick... any other thoughts... ?

Coastkid to the forum....

I was runnig around the coast by Aberlady and Gullane today and there was quite alot of washed up debris - wasn't particularly looking for driftwood, but I'm sure there's loads.

Specifically I'd look on the NE shore of Aberlady Bay before Gullane Point NT 461 824 and further round to the east past Gullane to the NW of Archerfield at NT 491 855 (the stretch between West Links and Eyebroughy).

Only problem you might have is the carry back to the car...

Aye, Mrs Davesport & myself walked along from from Gullane to Archerfield the other day & there are tons of drift wood about half way along. By tons I mean tons in weight. It was everywhere. I don't know if there had been a big blow-on but there's lots of it & I'm certain you'd find something there.

There's a track you can get the car down almost to the beach. I've not been down here myself in a vehicle but we saw several cars down here whilst out on our walk. You can see cars parked in the image below. Good luck.

Yeh, thats the private road through Muirfield. I think you need to be a member to get the key to the gate. Dunno if anyone else knows for sure?
