My 10 yr old sony dvd player has just given up, mainly due to abuse given by 4 yr old boy.

Should i replace it with another basic dvd player (any brand/model recommendations?) or go with some more modern technology? (any brand/model recommendations?)

thanks

If you're considering getting a gaming console in the future, it might be worth considering a PS3. Bluray player is built in.

.....BR is pointless if you have not got a HD telly, though.

Get a Blu-Ray then to make the most of it.

Richer Sounds do some cracking deals.

If you're not fussed about playing discs from other regions, this one is cheap and cheerful:

If you are after a few extras like internet capabilities, iplayer/Lovefilm etc, then maybe:

blu ray all the way, it will play your dvds & if you fancy renting stuff in our local video shops blu rays are seldom already out.

Blu-ray and think about getting a cinema system that decodes HD sound codecs - the surround effects are stunning in Dolby or DTS HD

Go the whole hog and get a PS3, Blu-ray and gaming in one neat little package.
