Dr Who used to be good, my boy loves it and i like it. However the last series and now this one also judging by tonights episode is utterly bemusing, i can hardly keep up with the storyline so what chance does its target audience have.
Whats with the endless background storylines with ridiculous cross overs, whatever happened to good old fashioned episodes with a singular story....bad thing happens , baddies sorted out then hero wins and closure.
I think its lost its way now.
Nerd moan over.
it's the first episaode, i don't think it's meant to be explained now, be a pretty rubbish series if it was, stick with it
Have to say I struggled with it. Wasn't too convinced by the first half of this series, and now several months later we have the second half which seems even more weird. Hopefully it will come together at some point!
Oh Gary i agree she is indeed worth the watch. Just the whole Dr Who concept seems to have gone off the tracks.
Mind you she was even better in Moll Flanders yum yum.
So you prefer dumbed-down formulaic plot-by-numbers rubbish then? Fine, there's plenty of it around, but personally I prefer my tv to have something of substance to it. The monster-of-the week storyline that a lot of genre tv follows gets real old, real quick. I can remember the Doctor Who of Hartnell, and the Doctor Who of Davidson, and I know which one the current Doctor is closest to, and which one I prefer.
but it's kids tv... nerdy kids tv.. so I'm sorry count zero.. but it's not your tv at all..
Did I miss any more man-on-man akshun in the latest episode ?
only thing the whole family sits down to watch together in our house
not sure whether that indicates high quality programming or lowest common denominator, but we watch it all the same...
I think Stevn Moffat has got a bit up his own arse with his plots. Russel T. Davies managed to keep scaring the bejesus out of most young kids as well as keeping older kids interested with the more complicated underlying plots.
im quite enjoying it
+1 for Alex Kingston.
I thought Dr Who was for dad's who'd grown up with to watch with their kids.
that's me then dibbs...
Its complex, but better than forulaic one baddie a week stuff. It is slightly indulgent at the moment, and I do prefer the plot within a plot thing of the earlier series. But I think the current storyline is a one of chance to tell a story that had never been told, so lets allow that indulgence. Next week looks like its back to a single baddie!!!
Yeah I hate when TV challenges kids.
If I wanted them to be challenged I would have made them read a book FFS.
😉
😆
enjoyed it and so did the kids. One still watched it from the stairs scared so job done.
Complex? sweet zombie jesus! what kind of tat do you normally watch? It's about as complex as the bill, imho anyway. Even my five year old was following it and got the gist of it.
I don't get the Alex Kingston thing. Amy Pond though...
Normally watch the news, the world as presented by the John Simpson is simple in comparison to the subplots of Dr Who. 💡
Alex Kingston I think needs you to be a certain age. Thank christ I am not there yet.
Now, if only they'd hand 'Who over to the Torchwood production team, we'd all be sitting here discussing a totally unnecessary, explicit and gratuitous Alex Kingston/Karen Gillan lesbian sex scene...
😯
...Hold that thought...
😯
Oh my word...
😯
Erm.. you clearly haven't been following the plot.
That would be a "daughter/mother lesbian incest scene" - I doubt even the Torchwood crew would go that far... 😯
Oh my giddy aunt, oh lordy lordy...
😉
I cocking well LOVE Dr Who. And furthermore, Alex Kingston is a saucy minx. I have nothing further to add. 😀
its for kids
as for people wathing it because someone is hot....FFS !! I do hope it adolescents posting those comments and not frickin adults.
Go buy Nuts and fill your boots.
It's got kids engaged with something that isn't a bunch of colourful blobs or has no story. And it seems to get kids involved, just heard on the radio this week that a school class is writing a short episode to be shown at the end of this series.
If I had kids I'd rather they watched Dr Who rather than some guff that teaches them to be worthwhile by whoring themselves to get a record deal or be in a house with another 9 bottom feeders trying to blow their way to stardom........and they might get a little scared in the process 😈
I watched Saturday Kitchen yesterday because Amy Nuttall was on it. I am 31. This makes me a bad man, apparently.
