I posted recently about a forthcoming trip I had planned. We are heading up this weekend - is it under snow?

We are primarily heading up for golf, which now looks unlikely but were planning on taking bikes to ride Golspie and Balblair. Are we wasting our time?

Take the bikes.
Golspie and Balblair are 2 of the best places in the country. Someone probably sold Dornoch as a hidden gem of world class golf well transfer that thinking to mountainbiking trail centres.
Golspie is as good as GT. Balblair is as different as anything you will ride.
I cant vouch for the snow since its back but its a dusting here in Aberdeenshire at the moment. Hopefully someone local can keep you updated.

Traffic Scotland Live-Eye Views might be useful for an idea - looks a bit white to the north, ATM.
I'd love a crack at either centre whatever the weather; preferably summer sun, though...

Have you spoken to the clubs? The Royal Dornoch course is right on the shore and is barely above sea level so might be less impacted by snow.

Thanks all

Dornoch had a healthy covering this morning apparently as did Brora. Brora has a webcam though and its getting greener!

Was concerned whether Golspie would be ridable as its quite exposed as I understand. Was after some locxal thoughts

Looks like we'll be packing the bikes anyway - could always do the shorter routes up there I guess.

Sorry for a bit of a hijack, but, I'm planning a wee trip up there next month and was going to take the road bike as well as the mtb and golf clubs. Is there any good road biking up there? Looks very limited from the maps unless it heavily involves the a9.

Mind you, there's just been 12" snow forecast for that area tomorrow (Thursday)... Sorry to put a damper on things
