We are currently mulling over the options of: -

1. French doors (PVCU - standard)
2. Same as above but by Rock Door (who claim high security)
3. Bi - fold doors by Rehau

Can anyone in the trade offer impartial advice as to the best ( or indeed worst) option in terms of security? Or any features that improve security massively that we should insist on?

Thanks

With whatever door you do get ask for laminated glass not toughened, as it shattersinto small particles and leaves a nice big door sized opening to get in and out with stuff.

Roller shutter behind fitted into box above opening would be safer.

All the doors will most probably be secure by design spec and reach the same standards at the end of the day there is alot easier ways into a home than trying to open a 5 point locking door most thieves will just smash a window. Toughend glass is easier to get through in terms of once its broken it leaves a clean hole. But someone would have to hit it bloody hard to break it so either way is a deterrent.

Oh you can also have the glass with laminated sheet internal and toughend external for max security i would like to see someone break into that without someone noticing cost will go up a little bit though.

Manse doors are good. We fit them as recommended by the Police in burglary hotspots.

Roller shutter [s]behind[/s] in front fitted into box above opening would be safer with access from the inside and internal locks.

Thanks all, anyone have any opinions on Rock Door? One guy tells me they are the best, another says no better than any other. Thinking of the French doors here rather than normal front/back door.

Or just use a spring-loaded centre punch, which takes about two seconds and needs no effort whatsoever.
