Leaving him at home isn't really practical
Not for now, but if you're ever in the need of some dog boarding for a night or two then give me a shout.
Thanks, that's really kind of you and will bear it in mind. He's still in full teenage dirtbag mode, so quite full on, but I'm assured he'll calm down by time he's ten or so...
Bandanas on dogs are fine if you live on a canal boat, which he doesn't
Why? Christ knows I’ve seen a great many dogs with bandanas of all kinds of colours, usually pretty faded and well worn, and I doubt more than one or two lived on a narrow boat, so why that particular specificity?
He'll probably end up with a smart new colour-matched rope lead to match his bandana, he's highly unlikely to acquire a hat, waistcoat or other fripperies, but thanks for the suggestions. Maybe he could carry a hip-flask for me...
Matched rope and bandana, along with some sort of EDC means of carrying the hip flask sounds like a plan. Maybe in waxed cotton? 🙃

Ah, Disley/New Mills, High Peak canal localism, I guess. The typical High Peak canal boat doggo tends to be a small, slightly scruffy terrier type often complete with bandana and atrocious manners.
The waxed cotton would kind of be on topic for a GWP tbf, but he's more trail dog than a boots and Barbour hunting one. In a different life however, he'd be roaming the moors, pointing pheasants.
Some speculative googling reveals that you can spend insane amounts of money on dog accessories, 200 quid for a slightly fussy German lead anyone? He'll be getting a nice, but long term useful new green rope lead to match his collar and bandana, after that we'll think about buying a canal boat to match.

Can recommend Halti, the fabric used in them is far nicer to handle than anything else I've seen used in leads. They come in a range of colours too 😉
I have two, one brown and one orange and agree they're very nice to handle.
Is this a new thing for weddings?

I hope so! Massive improvement. In fact this applies to any situation
Winnie disapproves of dressing dogs up, but will make an exception for carefully curated accessories……
Randal says no! (tho he does confess to occasionally wearing a Barbour raincoat (being from Cyprus he's no fan of rain ![]()
Why not go full effort but flip it on its head. Dog gets a full suit and you dress up as a giant dog

Sprocket spent the first six months of his life in more or less completely dry, sun-baked conditions, which meant the Peak District autumn/winter came as a bit of a shock to him. He's properly crap with heat though, anything around 20˚C or above and he goes into a sort of summer hibernation mode. On the plus side, there's something oddly magical about being out at 5 am before the world's properly woken up with your own personal chaos demon for company. I do sometimes wonder how wires in hotter climates cope. He's in his element in the cold and wet though. Not sure he's posh enough for a Barbour, mind.

I don't remember a thread about kids running out and biting cyclists on the shin.
