^ Also, Donald is still fighting the election (and has been for the last 6 months). Hilary has stepped-back completely - I think I've seen one public engagement from her.

No surprise really.... but Hillary's popularity now is completely irrelevant.

I suppose it demonstrates how well Donald's propaganda is being received by the populace - I mean, does anyone really believe (at this point) that Hillary would have been worse that Donald? I suppose thats the danger of normalizing this kind of idiotic rhetoric.... sooner or later people end up believing it.

I feel like our kids are going to be reading about Donald at school as a cautionary tale, in the way we read about German politics in the 1930s

This makes for interesting reading: However bad Trump's numbers are, Hilary's are worse. The Democrats has some way to go, and the Mid Term elections are looming.

Yeah, I don't see what Hilary has to do with the mid-terms. I'd be surprised if the Reps are still in charge of both houses afterwards (although I have lost a lot of faith in the US electorate in the last year: there is clearly a lot of stupidity about).

Slightly confused article there really. Part of the issues with the US/president style is there is no one leader of the opposition. As for the mid terms I think it's down as a set of mostly red states this time so the chance of big gains for any Dem is low regardless of how bad Trump is and they are voting for their good local proper Republicans not Donald. A protest vote against some from the Trump core might upset a few things though.

I would imagine the real factor will be the scandal closest to the elections. The Rep's are not standing by him anymore like they were, nobody wants to be collateral when that thing goes off.

Trump has also been collecting campaign donations, this time from big donors, at record levels for a 1st 6 month presidency.

The record fundraising is also apparently taking place in his hotels etc so all these s****y dinners and events directly pay him personally. It's a scam of the highest proportion.

Trump has a pop at Sessions.

He really seems utterly out of his depth.

Yup. It is indeed very scary, the Koch brothers have tried to subvert democracy for their own ends to the point that the very credibility of the Republican party is in jeopardy. Sooner or later, there will either be a dramatic erosion of democratic rights for those who stand to lose as a result of extreme right wing Republican policies, or there will be a backlash within the party.

There's been a marked increase in bellicose, illiberal language from the political right within the Anglosphere in general, to the point that the subversion of fact has become accepted practice. Sooner or later there will be a popular backlash, it's one thing to have an economic system whereby enormous amounts of cash are drawn from the working/middle classes and sucked upwards but it's quite another to attempt to bypass and silence the media. There's even a call from some on the Australian right to withdraw from the United Nations...

@bails @martinhutch It was "met with Russians".

Only 45% of Trump voters believe Donald Trump Jr. met with Russians, 32% say it didn't happen, 24% not sure.

https://t.co/FX9sYGiFNc

This despite the fact HE PUBLISHED THE EMAILS SHOWING HE DID, all in denial, its madness lol.

Loving that hes slated Sessions so much,

Sessions has been remarkably loyal to Trump throughout, apart from, well not killing the russia investigation ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ill bet plenty of other Trump fanboys among the Reps are feeling a bit nervous, Trump seems happy to throe anyone under the bus if things go wrong

Every day paints in sharper focus a picture of an inadequate man of limited intellectual ability, in thrall to his own need for validation slowly digging himself even deeper.

He's obviously been reading about Gerald Ford pardoning Nixon, but has failed to grasp the fact that Ford was dragged kicking and screaming into the White House and Ford's motivation for pardoning Nixon stemmed from the need to ensure that no resulting trial dragged the authority of the office of President through the legal mire for years after the event. Controversial, yes but necessary to draw a line and move on.

For Trump to pardon himself would permanently damage the credibility of the officeholder and would likely bring down the GOP itself. Again, sooner or later the GOP will have to choose the right moment to jettison the sitting president and distance itself from events.

Your point is?

The 55% might be the smart ones, on the basis that you can't trust anything that they say so they're just as likely to be right as the 45% ๐Ÿ˜†

If Trump wins another term, as our in-house nutters keep saying he's going too, then wow, it's going to be lonely in the White House for those last years!

(by then, EVERYONE else will have resigned....... ๐Ÿ˜† )

45% of Trump supporters don't believe it.

Do you believe he met with Russians?

it's OK, I'm taking the P.

When you can't believe anything they say it's not beyond the limits of incredulity that I feel with almost anything Trump related nowadays that they faked their own incriminating emails just so they can shout FAKE NEWS at it ๐Ÿ˜‰

CountZero,

You think Mexico is an angelic nation?

Apparently even CNN does not think so ...

Mexico is right in portraying the skeleton image coz they are themselves in such deep shite. Their country is dying due to their own drug problem. Even their own citizen want to run away which say a lot about a corrupted nation. ๐Ÿ™„

So will Trump pardon himself out of it?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40692709

Surely that might be a step too far for more moderate Trump supporters?

I'm sure he'd frame it something like "Look these investigations are coming to nothing. It's fake news. They are just politics and obstructions. So I'm going to pardon myself and my staff so we can put this behind us and get on with making America great again. Covfefe" but it would still be a pretty incredible move.

back to the dog ate my homework excuses

In a written statement released ahead of his appearance before Senate committees in closed-door sessions, Mr Kushner said his initial security clearance form had been submitted prematurely in error and had omitted all foreign contacts.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-24/donald-trump-sil-jared-kushner-denies-improper-contacts-w-russia/8739340
He has since revised those forms several times.

Would that be every time he was caught out?

Who's going under the bus?

Chewkw, not for the first time, the whooshing sound you hear is the point going over your head.
The article I posted pointed out that every single advertising organisation that had hoardings in the US refused to allow the poster to be displayed, the only place that would was Mexico.
I'm perfectly aware of the situation Mexico is in, although, the way its neighbour to the north is behaving, it might soon be difficult to tell them apart.

Very rightly too. If they want to insult the leader of the nation then be prepared to get hammered. They can display whatever they wish but just don't go crying foul when they got hammered.

Don't blame the north. Blame themselves for cultivating all those drugs and their own inept corrupted govt. That nation is dying due to drugs and is trying to spread to the north. It has become an epidemic and a narco-state.
