anyone know much about domain name endings in an seo context?
without going into too much detail, i'm working on a project (for myself) and within the market there is a very specific event the title of which i can see will be heavily googled.
the co.uk of the title has been taken, but i can by the hyphenated version - as far as i can discover not a problem for seo means - or i can buy a variant like org.uk.
pretty sure i'm going to grab the hyphenated variant but out of interest does anyone know if the domain name ending makes a difference to search engine visibility?
not for visibility but the way google are angling their new seo focus I'd personally go for the .co.uk. also people do seem to think a .co.uk is a bit more friendly as its more mainstream and people who know nothing about it assume "uk business"
Hyphenated should be fine, we generally register a few variants on the domain ending as well though to make copycat sites more difficult. It's a PITA come renewal time mind...
