With puppies nature vs nurture. I'm saying nurture wins. Any dog can snap no matter where it's from. Bring it up right and you only reduce the risk. It's never 100% gone. Find the right one at a rescue and the rest is up to you

babbington rescue just off junction 26 of the m1. The puppies arent mentioned on the website though, they were only ever featured on their facebook page.

Good luck, you sound like you'll give some little critter out there a lovely home when you find the right one 🙂

Or there's a good few pages of rescue dogs of all ages and shapes and sizes here that are all tagged as suitable with young children. 😉

Gorgeous 2 year old black lab called Sabbi in Cambs....

Huxley, currently asleep under the desk at work, is a rescue from Dalmatian welfare. They have local bods who will come and vet your house, garden and domestic set-up. While he/she is there they will ask if any on the website appeal to you. Once you pass the assessment they arrange for you to collect the dog. Huxley came from Devon, we're in Suffolk and the handover was at Brentwood after they had relayed across the country.
Bear in mind some breed welfare organisations won't entertain you if you have no previous experience of the breed (Pointers are one). I wouldn't recommend using RSPCA as they no longer appear to have lost their way as an animal welfare organisation.

Just a quick bump to say thanks to all for the discussion and help, we found a lovely litter of Sprockers and brought Poppy home on Sunday

She's very sweet and is settling in well already. Puppy classes are booked!
