A mate of mine has moved to a shared house in a small village. The internet access is average at best but there are 4 people already sharing a connection in the house making surfing porn painfully slow. BT want to charge the earth to put a separate line in however there is a telephone box opposite his bedroom booming out a cracking openzone signal. Looking at BT web site he can get unlimited access for £15 a month.

Any use openzone regularly.? Is it worth a punt.?

We have the Sky WiFi on our iPad, and use it regularly.

How else would I browse STW at the local coffee shop?

(More and more hotspots are popping up every month)

I've never been able to connect to an Openzone signal.

Same as Drac, I've never been able to connect either.
I suggest before he blows £15 a month to try it out on a PAYG basis. I'm pretty sure you can buy a GB of data for cheap.

i use it all the time on my iphone and ipad as traveling

its incredibly easy with ios and the openzone app.

RTFM - you have to do it a specific way.

i get it as part of my package with BT - my routers an openzone hot spot .... how ever anyone using it thats not sitting inside my house - well they would have to sit in their car in my garden .... the signal doesnt stretch beyond that thanks to nice thick walls.

4 people sharing an internet connection should be fine unless someones raping it downloading stuff or its something stupid like a 1meg connection.

According to the advert there's millions of hot spots. I couldn't find one at Gatwick or The NEC.
I use one at the hotel we stay at in Devon and I think I've used one other. On the whole though its not that good.

raping it
_ Very sad choice of language this.

Back to the OP - I have a BT hotspot in my house, its called my own router I find the connection sometimes is better through the BT app than direct! I do use it when out and about useful in the pub sometimes as we don't have a decent data signal round our way.

Because you're trivialising the word. It's got nothing to do with how you "choose" to read it, that word only has one meaning.

By using it in the way you have it suggests maybe you don't think rape is very serious.

ok what about folk who use murdering when talking about blacking out cars and bikes ? ive seen more than one JOURNALIST refer to a bike as being murdered out ...

maybe murder isnt serious either then ?

its quite clear what i mean - i mean to abuse the connection. - oh wait - abuse is serious too ...

i mean to overuse the connection for their own particular wants.

is that more politically correct for you

sorry !

EDIT: oxford dictionary states 2 meanings the first of which is as you say but number 2 example is 2: the wanton destruction or spoiling of a place:
the rape of the countryside

So the house mates are spoiling the internet connection by overusing it.

EDIT...

Judging by your attitude in the post above it's clear you don't have the compassion or intelligence to reflect on your choice of words.

Maybe one day you will.

what's this? two wrongs make a right?

It can be yes. But 'abuse' has the meaning Use (something) to bad effect or for a bad purpose; misuse so clearly has multiple meanings / uses.

rape1 /re?p/ ?
[s]? noun [mass noun]
The crime, typically committed by a man, of forcing another person to have sexual intercourse with the offender against their will: he denied two charges of rape | [count noun] he had committed at least two rapes.
• archaic the abduction of a woman, especially for the purpose of having sexual intercourse with her: the Rape of the Sabine Women.[/s]

The wanton destruction or spoiling of a place: the rape of the countryside.

? verb [with obj.]
[s](especially of a man) force (another person) to have sexual intercourse with the offender against their will.[/s]

Spoil or destroy (a place): timber men doubt the government's ability to ensure the forests are not raped.

Stop being oversensitive, back to the topic in question.

Stop being oversensitive

Really? You think it's oversensative?

Use the word all you like. Beaware it does mark you out as a bit of unempathetic tosser.

Really?

Yes. Rape has multiple meanings just like abuse does.

Hardly in common use though.

Not arguing that it has other meanings, just about the sensibilities of using it.

Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
