Just got a used dishwasher
The waste pipe is fairly rigid plastic and is exactly the same diameter as the pipe its supposed to connect to
I've no idea how I'm supposed to fit it. Is there a rubber jointing piece I can buy?
anyone know if the waste on a dishwasher is pushed out at high pressure?
Normally the waste pipe is flexible just like the washing machine. They are pumped but not at that high a pressure.
Mines connected to the u-trap from the sink waste via a short piece of rubber hose with a jubilee clip at each end
I wouldn't have thought it would be under high pressure as it's a fairly low volume down a wide pipe.
Would one of these help you out??
edit - I think our dishwasher has a similar attachment to what nsaints has suggested; a large rubber coupling tube with some clips either side.
I don't know about dishwashers, but washing machines need a vented drain running at a minimum height, otherwise they can suck dirty water back into the system.
Dishwashers may or may not be the same, but if I was going to DIY it I'd research some proper instructions rather than guessing. I wouldn't want to risk washing my dishes in stagnant water pulled out of the drain trap.
I was thinking about one of those connectors from ebay, but not sure how good a seal I would get
Cougar - I was told to make sure that the waste pipe goes up higher than the pipe it connects to on the sink trap to prevent dirty water filling up the dishwasher
I think I am missing a rubber connector from the end of the waste pipe. I'm wondering if it might be easier just to drill a hole in the external wall
