I was out this afternoon and my wife called to say a circuit breaker had tripped. The dishwasher was on at the time this happened - mid cycle.

She reset the breaker and now the dishwasher isn't working. Lights on top panel are on so there's power going to it but nothing else is happening.

Any ideas?

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Yeh trying turning it off and back on again.

Is the pump likely to be under the dishwasher, so behind the plinth?

Sounds like the heating element is shorting out.
Happened to my shower, and then about 6 months later the same thing to my dishwasher. I figured it was happening just after the prewash/empty/fill up again, and then it tripped as the element switched on.

Not had a chance to look at this yet so anyone got any other ideas before I start to take it to bits. Wife now said there was a loud bang before the c/b tripped. PCB possibly?
