I have an illustrator file which has been setup as 2000 x 800 (for a pop up banner).

When I export it to a jpeg, or a pdf, it increases in size to 2150 x 800.

Anyone got an idea what is going on and how I can stop it doing it.

its Illustrator CS on a Mac if that makes any difference ๐Ÿ™

Is there something hanging outside the artbox? Depending on settings, it can rasterize just the artbox, or can size the document to hold all the artwork.

Press Cmd>K (keyline view) and see if you have any rogue points hidden off the artboard (as above suggests ^^^)

(Keyline view just makes it easier to see hidden stuff)

That happened to me once with an image of Bob Marley.

Ahh, all those little hidden things that can bite you in the ass. With me it used to be hidden alpha channels, one or two pics out of several dozen not converted to CMYK from RGB, images still layered, not flattened, and rogue points in spot colours hidden in Illustrator files. The joys of working in print pre-press.
