I've got some Crew ones but they're a bit sack-like, I'd like something with a bit more shape (without being completely skinny mod-like). Plain colours.

I know it's been asked on here before but it was ages ago and I can't find the thread.

WWCFHW?

I got a really nice one from Fat Face (well TK Maxx, but originally from FF) - plain, well fitting, well made and has washed a few times and kept its shape.

🤣

Have never worn RL, even when I used to play polo! (Yes, really. While at university).

John Lewis own label ones are nicely cut, good quality and plain/logoless. The best ones I have are from Roderick Charles, but it looks as if they've stopped making them.

Sensible answer - Get thee to a big golf shop.

They'll have a wide selection of good quality polos.

Try Spokes of London, online. They have really good sizing tool, and do great chinos, and polo's. I have worn their 'Sharps' as work trousers for years and recently bought a few polo shirts and been impressed with fit, quality and service.

Marks and Spencers! seriously, they have quality plain polos that are £10 in the outlet malls and £15 in normal shops. I hate logos on clothing and they don't go bobbly after many washes and they look smart, loads of colours.

I like the Nike Dri-fit ones. Super comfy and wash beautifully.

Had a few of these: https://www.win-or-lose.com/polo-shirts/classic-fit-polo-shirts/
Lasting well and well made and fit me ok (I'm straight up and down with a beer belly starting to show)

The style in US InfoSec circles seems to be the UnderArmor ones. Lots of people wearing them as they wick away traces of pressure...

I am rocking a golf polo (!) today. Far more comfortable, dry quickly and don't need ironing. What's not to love!?

Kirkland Signature at CostCo are good honest basic polo shirts. Just the right mix of cotton and elastane. Or, they certainly used to be.

M&S also good for honest polo shirts.

Much prefer plain polo shirts without 'Boss', 'Polo', 'Auld Mannie', etc nowadays. Understated elegance 🙂

https://spoke-london.com/collections/tops look good, I think - and should be able to get a good fit as you choose chest, cut and length. No logo either.

Alpkit do a wicking polo now, which would be good for hot days. Similar available in Lidl on occasion...

+1 We had some logoed polos made up for a work event / conference and they are very comfortable. If I'm going in the office and not seeing customers I just stick one on. No need to iron them either.

Had the same dilemma recently when the auld polo was relegated to decorating duty.

Ended up going for one by Paul Smith.

Not sack-like, appreciably tailored compared to most of the other ones I tried and it has a multicoloured zebra on it. What's not to like?

My Hackett has held its shape well after numerous washes. Available without logos but not cheap. For patterned I like Ted Baker.

+1 for Sunspel.
Also look at Oliver Sweeney; still a few left in their sale.
Boss sale nearly over but worth a look; decent quality and some are logo free - so even better.

Another vote for uniqlo. Been wearing them for years. They changed their sizing a couple of years back and I went from a medium to a large, although they were the same size.

It does, but it calls them fries for some reason. Long slices of potato fried until golden are chips. That’s a whole different thread though.

Crew are a bit sack-like ?
Not in my experience ..I really like the fit ..
Another shout for Costco / Kirkland Polos ..really lightweight and ideal for hot sweaty days working outdoors ( wouldn't wear them for anything else ..
I also like Fatface Polo's but have found the stitching to deteriorate on the shoulder and upper arm section long before ( my ) expected shelf life...

i like the cut and colours of Pretty Green. never thought id buy anything connected to a gallagher, but i put my loathing to one side and bought a few in their sale.

previously i tend to order around 20 that i like the look of at m&m direct, try them all on, keep around 5 and send the rest back. its usually the 'slim fit' jobbies that look best on me. no big logos as per above.

Surely there is only one good answer when it comes to quality polo shirts and that is Lacoste.

Actually those M&S slim fit ones look alright on their website, might just get a couple of them. Only for work after all

I like a beer, and as a result Im sporting an impressive bay window.

I’ve always dressed football casual but all the expensive designer clobber is now aimed at ‘skinny fit’ kids,,,,, not like the old days (90s😁)

Have found MnS, next, Lacoste and Barbour to be sympathetic to blokes with similar interests to me.

One day I will approach the dragons den panel with the latest fashion trend,,,,,, ‘lad fit’.

M&S now doing slim fit in their autograph range. But to be fair their standard ones are plenty smart enough.

Sunspel again - sale just finished unfortunately

Or check out the John Smedley outlet website, some of the patterns are a bit 'me'h but good quality stuff. John Smedley stuff does turn up in TK Maxx but it's hit and miss what you find.

Rather than starting a new topic...

There is a slow move back into the office, I've spent the last 4 months in gym shorts and old running t-shirts, the previous 15 years before than in a suit with or without a tie.
Neither of these will cut it now, we're relaxing the dress code (wear what you want, just don't be to scruffy), which in my industry means casual shirts or polo shirts. Yay.
So what of the many suggestions above will work for a gentleman who's physique is best described as "skeletal"? Think 6'4", 80kg and arm like Chris Froome. Not a technical fabric, I sit in an office, it need to be at the "smart" and not the "sports" end.
Thanks, and yes, I do hate myself for asking!

In the world of polo shirts, it's been my experience that the smartest ones tend to be the ones in technical fabrics.

Cotton polos can scream "corporate workwear".... he said, whilst sitting wearing a cotton. branded corporate workwear polo.

Well, seeing as I started this, what I ended up doing was going to TK Maxx, browsing the extensive polo shirt aisle/rack and picking up a few of the decent quality ones from there. I got a Penguin one, Jack Russell one, Crew Clothing one and (he says checking the label of the one he's wearing) an Olimpo one and a RL one, all for less than £20 each.

If you're looking for nicely fitted then it's worth looking at, and I apologise profusely for the nomenclature, "muscle fit" T's and polos from Abercrombie and H&M.

Abercrombie have a bit more quality to them but I just got a really nice plain navy cotton one from H&M.

I hate blousy shirts.

On that note, M&S, the kings of blousy and boxy shirts, have started doing "slim and stretch" shirts with a modern semi spread collar that are the business. Easy iron, proper business shirts, modern tailored fit but not Phones4u salesman, if that makes sense.

Edit: also add All Saints to the polo list. They come fitted as standard and have a very "standard" range. Pricey but good.

Muscle fit from Hollister seem to be pretty good. Also if you are in Costco they sometimes have Fila which fit well.
