Any recommendations?
I’ve had the typical B&Q ones and performance has been “variable”.
Are there any reliable ones that really work?

I have the stanley Fatmax one, just as unreliable as the B&Q you describe.
Fed up with it, now gathering dust in the garage, £20 wasted.

Zircon i700 Multiscanner is the best I’ve found.
Has never let me down so far, but plastic plumbing will always be a sticking point.

I got one from Maplins and it seems to work. Just put up two 'pig's tail' hooks to hold hanging seats via beams in the ceiling and relied on the detector to find the centres. Neither of the kids have fallen yet 🙂
