My daughter is getting a HP 15.6" laptop for Crimbo and I want to buy a decent case/bag to store it in.

Obviously most of these are very 'corporate' looking and not aimed at 12yr old girls. And the one's that are look like don't offer much protection.

So is there anything decent, for not a huge amount of money (sub £50 ideally).

Thanks

There's a lass at work who has the same dilemma. She ends up going for style over substance, so pretty laptop bags that offer minimal protection.

I guess that this is no good? It's got purple innards?!

I ended up with an Everki - http://www.everki.com/ - after agonising for ages over them. Nice case without being too 'briefcase'.

My 11-year-girl has just managed to have her laptop screen broken despite it being in reasonable protective case inside her schoolbag.

So don't skimp on the case, her poor pc will need all the protection it can get. She can always put stickers on it.

How about just a nice padded sleeve in her bag of choice?

Tucano make very good cases/sleeves in a good range of styles, have a look at what they have?

I bought the wife a nice one from Paperchase, but they seem to have a reduced range now.

e.g. :

CaptainFlashheart has the right answer. Far easier getting a laptop sleeve and a separate bag. Bought a couple from here for family as presents and can get them custom made for only a few pounds extra

Is a 15.6" laptop the best choice for a pre-teen girl?

I would go for 14" or less.

I have the male version of this bag

It fits your criteria of good protection, not looking "briefcase w*nker - see The Inbetweeners" and less than £50. Not sure whether it will fit that size of laptop though.
