If you look up the top at 00.03s, you can see the rock topple off the ridge.

I love how the camera car slowly backs away.

Along with all of the others behind it...
If that first wave of debris hadn't swept the car sideways, he'd have been geography.
Or is it geology? 😀

very good spot that Jamie.

I would love to take the credit for that, but it was pointed out to me by someone else.

Do hazard lights come on automatically when you have an accident these days, or was he just thinking, by Jove, there's a 50 ton bolder bouncing towards me, best put teh hazards on?

I think some new cars have it linked to the ABS kicking in/rapid deceleration.

I loved the hazard lights coming on too, just in case the other drivers hadn't spotted anything amiss!

Seen that popping up all over Facebook and twitter yesterday but couldn't get a decent connection, that's pretty incredible stuff.

Many for a few years now.

I love the way the rock does a little comedy skid just as it gets to the car.

A lot of the latest "connected" cars also autodial the remote advisor service and report the severity of the impact (impact accel and number of passengers and air bags fired) to them online. That way the advisors can get the emergency services out to you ASAP!.

Looking at that video and the damage caused by the 'smaller' rocks, they were lucky to get away with that, never mind the big rock landing close to them. Someone with more time on their hands can estimate the energy release from that rock slide! (mass & vert height)

I was surprised how long the rock took to travel down the hill side.

Most cas automatically put the hazards on when you brake hard these days, can be quite a surprise when your just braking hard in to a corner

Like something straight out of Final Destination. When he got out of the car I was half expecting a small pebble to hit him in the temple or something.
