Ok. So poor Gary Moore died today. Rock is being taken from us.

Thinking about those that died young. What would make a great line up?

Dio on vocals?
Paul Kossoff on rhythm (slightly controversial)
Gary Moore on lead
Keith Moon on drums
Paul Gray on bass

And I'd like Marc Bolan writing for them.

Lee Brilleaux on vocals.

Good call on Paul Kossoff.

No CG, you can't change your mind......

Jimi was never a band member, he was a one man show....

I want a band that will play well together which is why I ignored Hendrix.

Janis can do backing vocals.

bonham drums
Bon scott/janis Joplin vocals
hendrix guitar
An other bass

I was going to google JLS but I did this once as Jedwood was mentioned on Radio 4 it was a waste of time so I go for generic boy/girl band of limited talent of talent show fame

Hmmmm,

I like your lead vocals Junkyard.

But then I could have put Phil Lynott in there.

Lead vocals are an awkward call....

No.

LOL

I ignored all proper Blues guitarists. Otherwise John Lee Hooker would've been in there as 'occassional guitarist' and voodoo specialist 😉

Pete de Freitas on drums.

Understated, underrated, sadly missed.

Freddie

I can't allow him....

GREAT singer and entertainer, no questions asked. But he wasn't a rock singer. Not in the truest sense.

surely bonham is a shoe in as drummer?
i see your point re Hendrix he would hog the limelight - think we need a band of entirely drink related deaths then one for other drugs does that help?

Oh crap. OK - Bon Scott can do vocals.

We need a Slash / Santana type album now. A solid band with multiple vocals dependant on track (too many good BUT dead vocalists).

Lead - Gary Moore
Rythym - Paul Kossof
Bass - Paul Gray
Drums - Moon (sorry, I prefer his style)

Singers:-
Phil Lynott
Bon Scott
Dio

Backing singers:-
Janis Joplin

Manager:-
Malcolm McLaren (until I'm available dead)

Wrong about moon
http://www.stylusmagazine.com/articles/weekly_article/stylus-magazines-50-greatest-rock-drummers.htm
he is second to oh quess who see told you we needed a good manager 😉

stamps feets shouts for grant to turn up and get all persuassive on McLaren - that would be a short fight between an art house lightweight and a coke fuelled nutter.

Can Kurt not just make the sandwiches or something good but not great

Vocals - Lux Interior
Bass - John Entwistle
Drums - Mitch Mitchell
Guitar - Jerry Garcia
Keyboard - Richard Wright

Wowzer. They'd probably sound *terrible* together, but I'd still pay good money to see a line-up like that 😀

Gerry Garcia for lead Guitar
Holger Czukay on Bass
Mickey Hart on drums. (EDIT: not dead yet, runs off to find gun)

No keyboards!

It just ain't rock!

Nonsense, philistine! Keyboards are great in rock, esp, Hammond organ and Mellotron. Mellotrons are mental machines.

The heart of the instrument is a bank of parallel linear magnetic audio tape strips. Playback heads underneath each key enable the playing of pre-recorded sounds. Each of the tape strips has a playing time of approximately eight seconds, after which the tape comes to a dead stop and rewinds to the start position.

A major advantage of using tape strips, as opposed to tape loops or cassettes (cf. the Birotron) is that the Mellotron can reproduce the "attack" transient of the instruments recorded on the tape.

A consequence of the eight second limit on the duration of each note is that if one wants to play chords that last longer than eight seconds, one must release different notes in sequence in a process that has been compared to a spider crawling across the keyboard.
