MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
Ok. So poor Gary Moore died today. Rock is being taken from us.
Thinking about those that died young. What would make a great line up?
Dio on vocals?
Paul Kossoff on rhythm (slightly controversial)
Gary Moore on lead
Keith Moon on drums
Paul Gray on bass
And I'd like Marc Bolan writing for them.
Lee Brilleaux on vocals.
Good call on Paul Kossoff.
Is any of JLS dead yet?
Is any of JLS dead yet?
😉
Can I change my mind?
SRV and Jimi.
Oh and Janis on vocals too.
darcy - you keep mentioning jls. Who are they?
No CG, you can't change your mind......
Jimi was never a band member, he was a one man show....
I want a band that will play well together which is why I ignored Hendrix.
Janis can do backing vocals.
OK, so we can have SRV?
bonham drums
Bon scott/janis Joplin vocals
hendrix guitar
An other bass
I was going to google JLS but I did this once as Jedwood was mentioned on Radio 4 it was a waste of time so I go for generic boy/girl band of limited talent of talent show fame
Hmmmm,
I like your lead vocals Junkyard.
But then I could have put Phil Lynott in there.
Lead vocals are an awkward call....
Jimi was never a band member, he was a one man show
yet he was in a band for most of his career I dont think you should be the manager anymore
C_G you can who you want in your band
OK, so we can have SRV?
No.
LOL
I ignored all proper Blues guitarists. Otherwise John Lee Hooker would've been in there as 'occassional guitarist' and voodoo specialist 😉
Pete de Freitas on drums.
Understated, underrated, sadly missed.
I dont think you should be the manager anymore
Oh FFS, now we need a good dead manager!
Freddie
Hendrix
Entwistle
Bonham
Oh dear, typical STW, we can't agree on anything and it's not even bike related!
Freddie
I can't allow him....
GREAT singer and entertainer, no questions asked. But he wasn't a rock singer. Not in the truest sense.
surely bonham is a shoe in as drummer?
i see your point re Hendrix he would hog the limelight - think we need a band of entirely drink related deaths then one for other drugs does that help?
Bon Scott - Lead vocals
Keith Moon (Headphones sellotaped to his head optional) - Drums
My Twopenneth 🙂
Oh FFS, now we need a good dead manager!
Malcolm McLaren of course!
Any chance I could sneak in one of the dead Gibb brothers then?
I don't want Freddie either!
Any chance I could sneak in one of the dead Gibb brothers then?
that sounds all wrong
that sounds all wrong
it does suggest there is a choice of dead gibb brothers as well
Oh FFS, now we need a good dead manager
😆
peter grant legend and a wrestler
Oh crap. OK - Bon Scott can do vocals.
We need a Slash / Santana type album now. A solid band with multiple vocals dependant on track (too many good BUT dead vocalists).
Lead - Gary Moore
Rythym - Paul Kossof
Bass - Paul Gray
Drums - Moon (sorry, I prefer his style)
Singers:-
Phil Lynott
Bon Scott
Dio
Backing singers:-
Janis Joplin
Manager:-
Malcolm McLaren (until I'm available dead)
Kurt has to be in there somewhere.
Freddie
I can't allow him....
Wow - hard crowd 8)
Bon Scott then!
edit: too late 😀
Malcolm Mclaren managing Morrison, Hendrix, Entwhistle, Bonham/Moon doing Kings of the Wild Frontier FTW
Joe Strummer vocals/rhythym guitar, Keith Moon drums, Jimi Hendrix lead guitar, Jah Wobble bass and the bands name Play Loud
Kurt has to be in there somewhere.
Writer (along with Marc Bolan).
the bands name Play Loud
The rate we're going it'll be Heaven's 17!
I didn't even know Jah Wobble was dead 😯
Where have i been ?
Wrong about moon
http://www.stylusmagazine.com/articles/weekly_article/stylus-magazines-50-greatest-rock-drummers.htm
he is second to oh quess who see told you we needed a good manager 😉
stamps feets shouts for grant to turn up and get all persuassive on McLaren - that would be a short fight between an art house lightweight and a coke fuelled nutter.
Can Kurt not just make the sandwiches or something good but not great
Vocals - Lux Interior
Bass - John Entwistle
Drums - Mitch Mitchell
Guitar - Jerry Garcia
Keyboard - Richard Wright
Wowzer. They'd probably sound *terrible* together, but I'd still pay good money to see a line-up like that 😀
Wrong about moon
Rock ain't about ratings - Moon had the attitude.
Syd Barrett gets kicked out after the first album for being crap
Lux Interior gets the call to replace {good call}
Shoot me! Can't believe I forgot to include Rory Gallagher. 😯
Edit: didn't realise Mitch Mitchell wasn't around.
where's my gun?
Keith Moon drank with Oliver Reed thats good enough for me
You're all thinking TOO SMALL.
I want the best. OK, the best of the dead, but the best none the same.
I reckon my band could work......
Not Elvis? would he?, just for you?
Nobody on keyboards?
LOL! NO. No Elvis....
A bit like Freddie. Not what I'm looking for.
Nobody on keyboards?
Er, CG, the name of this thread is dead ROCK band.
We don't do keyboards.....
:shakeshead:
S'cuse me Dr but Deep Purple had Jon Lord on keyboards. Yes, I know he is still alive but they are a rock band. Also Rick Wakeman played keyboards with Yes. Shall I continue? 😉

PROG rock
I'm not interested in prog.
I want a kicking rock band......
FCOL Deep Purple are not prog rock. 🙄
Ian Gillan has a pretty good voice too.
Ritchie Blackmore - what can I say?
Lemmy can't be far off, shall we leave this for a day or two?.

However, I would like to add Kirsty McColl to the backing singers.
Jah Woble ofrom stw died last year [suicide] it may be a reference to him i missed the reference on this thread
Was a guitarist and Dudley moore lookalike and always on guitar threads he would be contributing on this as well 😥

🙂
DezB, you are correct. That is going to be a HORRIBLE band!
I can't quite picture the harmony in my head......
I think Janis Joplin and Shannon Hoon from Blind melon would make a cracking dead vocal line up.
Gerry Garcia for lead Guitar
Holger Czukay on Bass
Mickey Hart on drums. (EDIT: not dead yet, runs off to find gun)
DezB, you are correct. That is going to be a HORRIBLE band!
I can't quite picture the harmony in my head......
Exactly, but that's the one I'd rather listen to! 😀
DezB - you do realise you've created a dead band that everyone will want to kill?
Dez can't really go for sid on bass but if that band ever existed it would have been for a very short time:)
I reckon Mrs Toast is the closest
Vocals Layne Stayley
Guitar 1 Robin Crosby
Guitar 2 Dimebag Darrell
Bass Cliff Burton
Drums Nick 'Razzle' Dingley
No bloody keyboards and no bloody women its a rock band FFS
Can't believe it took this long to get Burton on Bass. Shame on you all.
no bloody women its a rock band FFS
Women's hair ok though?
Ramones + drummer
Has to be Elvis as lead vocalist, nothing else comes close.

Hmm, that sounds like it might be quite good...
Jim Morrison on backing vocals?
Can't think of a whole group, but I think Phil Kennemore from YnT has a place in there somewhere.
joplin.. vocals
hendrix.. lead
moon.. drums
mingus.. bass
No keyboards!It just ain't rock!
Nonsense, philistine! Keyboards are great in rock, esp, Hammond organ and Mellotron. Mellotrons are mental machines.
The heart of the instrument is a bank of parallel linear magnetic audio tape strips. Playback heads underneath each key enable the playing of pre-recorded sounds. Each of the tape strips has a playing time of approximately eight seconds, after which the tape comes to a dead stop and rewinds to the start position.A major advantage of using tape strips, as opposed to tape loops or cassettes (cf. the Birotron) is that the Mellotron can reproduce the "attack" transient of the instruments recorded on the tape.
A consequence of the eight second limit on the duration of each note is that if one wants to play chords that last longer than eight seconds, one must release different notes in sequence in a process that has been compared to a spider crawling across the keyboard.
Jim Morrison would have to feature for me
