Ricoh GX100 has stopped seeing the SD card and will only record to internal memory (all 13MB of it!). Tried 2 different cards, both of which are fine in the PC's card reader, but no joy.

Anyone else had this problem (on any camera)? The camera is out of warranty so I'm guessing it will be an expensive repair job.

Cheers,
SC

I would tend to think the camera is not registering that the card is there, you could make sure the conacts touching the card are clean

Yup - that's what appears to be happening Mark. It was an intermittent fault until last week but now it has become full time. The contacts appear to be ok but it's hard to really tell by peering into the slot.

I'll take it to a camera shop and see what they think but if it's going to cost much it's probably the nudge I need to get something a bit more up-to-date. Shame because it is an excellent camera (unless you go over ISO 400!)

Try folding a piece of paper over the card (leaving a long enough tail to pull it out, then blow the slot out) works for my coffee card in the work (smart chip type card)

Can of Isopropyl Alcohol spray, can of compressed air.

Take all power out of the camera, switch it on to discharge capacitors. Spray IPA into the slot, give it 10 secs, spray compressed air in.

Wait ten mins, power back up, test.

Cheers Cougar - will give that a go on Monday if I can get my hands on the requisite aerosols.
