Feels so weird being perched up on a road bike for a couple of hours
I am not as flexible as I used to be 🙁 and my handling was crap

Nice drivers who overtake widely should look to see if cars are coming the other way - three very close misses right in front of me - and two drivers who decided to skim me close 🙁

Good idea to check brakes and cleats - both badly worn - before you go out 🙁 popping out of cleats on steep hills is not fun and dangerous when a car is right behind!

Hit a dig owned by someone I know 🙁 - 6 of one etc but dog not under control - oops. Glad that neither of us were hurt but close to a nasty one as I was descending road fast and dog shot out of bushes to owner across the (closed) road.

Shitty road surfaces and dangerous drivers - now I remember why I switched to MTBing!!!

Actually all the other riders waved today. Social Sunday! No miserable gits out there.

Glad the other roadies behaved well. We're basically a nice bunch! 8)

Going to ride to my folks tomorrow. Got new brakes to fit. Road bike is going to feel really weird after the 769mm bars I just put on the patriot...

Must admit am sorta thinking about a road bike for a few longer rides.....

but tbh I think the universe might explode /collapse if I buy another bike 🙁

(Managed to commute on three bikes this week due to loss of tread on commute stead... Fatty was most fun:-)

Why would anyone switch to the dark side now after possibly the best April ever that has baked out the trails which you can hit proper fast without overheating?

What handling skills do you need for a road bike ? What could possibly go wrong ?

R-Kelly: I believe I can fly ^^^ moment.

We've all stacked it one way or the other lol 😆

Just don't stare too much at scantly clad women as you won't see the cars in front of you slow down... 😳

Always take the lane at this point so that they have to think carefully, gutter hugging/secondary riding doesn't get the driver though processes firing correctly for some reason and they get it wrong. Speed assessment of the bike tends to be the biggest flaw I see on my daily commute. It's a bit of a pain having to think/guess what the driver is doing but practice ensures the number of near misses goes down over time.

Round here my commuting approach mid-week causes no problem, at the weekends there appear to be extra idiots on the NSL roads when I'm off to work. More close passes and poor thought processes on Saturday than Sunday mind.

Only 25 miles but nice and hilly. Steady 16mph - not busting a gut and just spinning the hills. That's two rides now and it's starting to get back to feeling ok except for back spasm on one Hill at mile 15.

Reason - just to see if I could join mates on 100mile lap of lake Geneva in 6 weeks time and haven't bought new MTB. Will get out in the MTB to tomorrow probably.

New cleats worked a treat both clipping in and not popping out.

More importantly several pounds lighter!!
