Met him about 10 years back when I worked in the LBS. Lovely chap, happy to chat, signed an autograph. Like him a lot.
He was in my old hometown doing a book signing in the local pub recently, went along with my dad. Had plenty of time to chat to us and everyone else who turned up. Good impressions were made (us of him, he probably though we were strange 😆 )

Used to be friends with a guy who lived next to him in Shenley, had some good parties. Then I remember watching him race bikes at Brands - he was good. I'd have liked to see him race bikes at the top level rather than cars, but he's always seemed like a really decent bloke.

You should read Bill Bryson's book [i]Mother Tongue[/i], you might learn something about 'English' English, and 'American' English, and the history of both, like 18th Century Americans complaining about 'their language' being corrupted by the introduction of 'English' words...
