I've got an old race bike, which is currently single speed and has a flat bar set up for the commute.

I'm thinking of having a go in my first CX race on sat in liverpool. Assuming i just put CX tyres on it will it be sufficient? It has a 32 / 16 ratio with 700 wheels. The only issues i can think of are mud clearance through the callipers and are flat bars allowed?

Any advice?

Assuming you get enough clearance through the the calipers, then you'll be fine.

I'm hoping to race that one too, and will be on my MTB.

Did my first one at Clayton Vale on Sat - how hard?

🙂

never done one, but hoping it should be some fun over the winter. i assume it usually just a case of turning up on the day and paying?

i dont know how hilly that race is but 32/16 might be too easy a gear? so spin out too much in a race.. dont matter though if your having fun
