[Closed] cycle to work - what happens if you change job

Offically I cannot comment on my job position. However...

I have C2W with my current employer and just applied for another bike voucher (which hasn't arrived yet - but due in the next 2 weeks). A potential new employer also has a c2W scheme, but probably doesn't have a start until the end of the calender year.

Do I need to pay back the full voucher if I move or will C2W allow a transfer? I'll still be using my bike for work.

Otherwise I might have to negotiate a better package ๐Ÿ™‚

You'll have to pay back the remaining value (without the tax exemption); not sure how that will affect the final value payment - when it happened to me HR just rolled the whole lot up into one last lump sum. This was pre-the amended tax guidelines about final value tho and I only had a couple of months remaining.

You'll have to cough up for the full price of the bike I believe.

This may get interesting then - especially depending on the timing of recieving the voucher and being successful elsewhere.

C2W is basically a tax free loan from your employer, my guess is they would want their money back......

When I left, I had only 2 months left on the bike - this came out of my final salary cheque.

they should give you a few options..

one is to pay for balance off to take title, but you so not save tax, one is to just give it back

the bike will not transfer - remember in all this your employer owns the bike - you merely hire it from them until such time as you agree to take title or give it back at the end of the hire period

Pay back in full with no tax saving - IIRC

Don't spend the voucher, wait til you get to your new position.
