[#11501028]

Anyone else wetting themselves with eager anticipation at the release of this? I have myu pre-order in via cdkeys.com as it's around £15 cheaper for a GOG key than GOG direct. Will give me something to while away the winter.

Admittedly I have a long and illustrious history of buying things on release date and then not playing them for ages but will make an exception for this 🙂

I will get it I'm sure but I'll wait a bit. I guess I was quite excited for the first launch date but I can't quite combine "must get it on launch day" and "launch day was in April". Not complaining that they delayed it to improve it, far from it but it just killed my day 1 feels.

I’m still playing The Witcher 3! Would need a new machine to play Cyberpunk and it is very tempting. What can I sell? 🤔

Probably will at some point, but I have a bunch of free Epic games to get through, then I want to play Beyond a Steel Sky, Star Wars Squadrons and maybe Jedi Fallen Order first!

I'm waiting for 5600X chips to become available, I have a 3600XT that I can return up to the end of January and a pile of bits to build a new machine.

I watched a trailer/production 'reel' for this recently, looks great. Noted that they've put alot of work into the engine note sound effects... seemed a bit misguided for a game set in 2077? Although maybe that the Punk bit.

I'm going to get it when it comes out but given my recent history with big releases inc Death Stranding, TLOU2, and Metro Exodus I'm resigning myself to it being shit.

I want to get it - but had been hoping to hold out for a 3080/6800xt/Xbox Series X as my 1080 is getting long in the tooth. Proving hard to get one of any of those though.

I was but I’m now concerned it’s going to flop. I’m going to wait for the price crash and then pick it up before the PS5 release for it.

I don't think it will flop. Cd Projekt haven't really done a bad game so I have faith. I rarely buy games on release however willing to take a punt this time 🙂

It looks ace but I've been burned before by games that look good. Ill wait I think.

only thing im unsure about is do I hold out until I get a new xbox.

If you get the Xbox One version, you should get the Series version upgrade for free.

True but they’ve only ever done a handful before.

I've got fairly new machine (2070 Super etc) so will do what I always do; play it for 5 hours then realise single player games end up being a bit of a chore and give up on it.

Interested in a Google Stadia system and the game is being bigged up by them, trying to convince me that it’s an epic and worth signing up on its own.

So... will it be / is it good enough to merit investing £50 plus some sort of monthly sub?

3 days for those of you that are counting down. I know what I am going to be doing come the 10th :). Looks up my street, slower paced and more true RPG than FPS pretending to be RPG.

Gah, I was waiting for Mechwarrior 5 and they've bumped the Steam/GOG release of that into the new year so as not to clash with Cyberpunk. "Why not just for a few weeks", they were asked? "Well we're planning ahead for when they delay it again" 🙂

I am expecting massive day one backlash tbh. Bugs and "won't run on my machine". Mostly fixed in a week but people'll still be discks about it forever. Expectations and excitement are way too high

Reviews are mixed

9/10 ign

4/5 independent

pc gamer 78% - play in two months when bugs are ironed out

polygon - it's transphobic junk made by backward euros

I'm mildly looking forward to the Guardians review....

I await IGNs next review. They’ll give it 4/10 IGN are the most unreliable source for reviews. .

I'd originally decided to wait on the PS5 version next year but as it turns out AC:Valhalla is a buggy mess and save games can corrupt I need something else (sort of playing Ghost of Tshusima as well). So I think I'll get it at launch and hope the save files are compatible. Multiplayer "sometime in 2022" is a bit of a disappointment though!

Probably NSFW...

https://press-start.com.au/news/pcmac/2020/12/08/cyberpunk-2077-genitals-penis-dick-physics/?fbclid=IwAR2VAnX76Vl3LN84j7jIu3T7FgsD1XAx-D5WjPspmxBBizpnBjAmwA1XuEY

Honestly, when moving between the two penis types, there’s a serious amount of jiggle. It’s almost mesmerising. Some serious work obviously went into the penis physics, which I definitely appreciate.

Some poor dev spent the last year of his/her life fine tuning 'penis jiggle physics'.

I can't really imagine it'll be that good... same as all games that promise the earth but are rushed to completion! Apparently life as a CD Projekt dev for the last 6 months or so has not been a pleasant experience.

I think the one to look out for will be Starfield by Bethesda.

They have form in producing excellent games so I am prepared to give it a punt. I wouldn't say it's been rushed either - it was originally due for release months ago (April then Sept) and CDPR have pushed it further and further back to be sure it is at least playable at launch.

The pressure on devs is nothing new. There was a story in the news about the Rockstar devs leading up to the release of RDR2 and it was pretty much the same. Insane pressure, no time off, 18+ hour shifts, *having* to fix things in unreasonable timescales etc.

I guess you did not know its based on Cyberpunk/Cyberpunk 2020 game that has been around since the late 80s. The whole destroying the environment and petrolheadness is very much built into the setting!

All that work, all that source material, an open world with immense detail and I can't read any of the reviews without thinking it sounds like a [graphically brilliant] bog standard linear fps with an opportunity to get lost for a bit and some rpg character development bolted on the back.

I hope its awesome but I really hoped it would be a decent rpg first and an fps second. Probably serves me right for ignoring everything but the screen shots and title before the last few day's reviews started.

I'd have preferred a Witcher 4 if I'm honest as I prefer that sort of setting but I'm hoping CP2077 will still grab me. It's been in the works for years so I expect the core of the game to be very polished, I'm sure there will be some bugs but the last delay was mostly about sorting those out in a Day 0 patch so hopefully there won't be anything game-breaking (I'm looking at you AC:Valhalla).

Going to wait until the devs fix the large amount of bugs that are inevitable with large openworld rpg titles. This title is meant to be the one they don't rush, and nothing (of value) gets cut.

Unlike the (cut) Novigrad pestilence main quest in the Witcher 3, that was meant to be linked with the last Keira Metz side quest.

I would not be surprised if some of the "rush" and delays are due to releasing the game as a crossgen title.

I wish it were the same person that developed the boob jiggle for Dead Or Alive receiving some karma.

Did think it's a bit odd that allowing people to customise their character's body is described as "sexualised". Having a dick isn't sexualised, it's just a thing that some bodies do. When was the first Tomb Raider? We've been able to tune breast size, lip size, butt size in rpgs forever, given all that it's more weird that this is the first time in a big title that we've been able decide whether or not to have a foreskin.

I'm just disappounted you can't have a robocock tbh. Take 10 humanity cost, lose one empathy.

Just finished the prelude and wow - so far very impressed. Night City is huge and beautifully put together. Seems very alive and 'real' - proper atmosphere to it. The controls are very different to Witcher and just about any RPG I have played so take a bit of getting used to but they make sense when playing. Haven't found any real bugs yet either.

Couple of tips without giving anything away. Even during the prelude there are a load of side quests etc. I skipped them but will go back and replay so as to tick them off. Also it is worth exploring back alleys for loot. Collect everything and cash junk in at various places to start getting a bit of a bank balance.

Yes there are some shooty bits however much of it can be done stealth also and there is lots of scope for character development and plenty of RPG elements. Story seems well constructed so far as well. Must stop now as working tomorrow but can see my evenings planned out now for the foreseeable 🙂

It's crashed multiple times on my One X. Annoying, but the game seems great otherwise. Hopefully a patch fixes the bugs soon.

If some of the videos at 720p/30fps I've seen are to be believed, I'm impressed at how they managed to make it run so badly.

I recently made the conscious decision to buy new/expensive games on CD as I have a habit of playing them for a few hours before getting bored. At least with CDs I can move them on.

I may just pick this up but, like always, I have so many jobs to get done that if I do get into it I’ll be piffed at throwing that time away.

Played it for a few hours yesterday, it's not grabbed me yet but that's mostly because I'm rubbish with a console controller so the combat is more of a struggle than it should be. I'd seen a lot of reports about it looking crap on a PS5 but it looks OK to me, certainly not next gen (it's not 4K for starters) and some textures are a bit fuzzy but it's far from unplayable or headache-inducing as I've seen some posts on reddit saying.

I wouldn't be surprised if the console version has stuff tuned to med/low. On those settings the game looks like GTA5 which is a much older game.

Apparently some of the video card drivers (especially Nvidia ones) were working a bit clunky with Cyberpunk. A fresh install of the drivers seems to solve it. My friend went from 20fps to 100fps with that. I don't know how this will affect consoles though.

The good thing is that CDprojekt are known for fixing their stuff and all this will probably get ironed out.

Still shouldn’t run at 15 FPS and crash regularly though. Not to mention the graphical glitches.

Big games on release day are always a gamble - it's just how it is.
I resigned myself years ago to wating a few months for the inevitable large patches to be out. Possibly even a price drop too.

I’ve been caught before too there is no excuse for a game 7 years in development, delayed time after time. It’s what made me suspect it would be a buggy mess though. It’s a shame as a lot to of people have  worked hard on this. I hope they do sort it though. It’s rare for a developer to issue refunds for a bad game so credit to them.
