Sign of the times I have to get my own CRB check done before getting a job I have been offered. Is this now the norm?

I thought the setting had to apply for the CRB.
but seeing as you can't work without it, seems fair for the offer to be conditional on it.
you cant you need to pay someone else to do it for you
Unless desperate I would tell them to f off tbh ...this is just a sign of how they will treat you in the future IMHO.
Our place do ours for us when we apply (and every time we get promoted/change jobs - about 4 checks in the last 6 yrs!).
Many do it, some pay uprfont, some don't pay at all and others reimburse when you get the job. You can get one yourself through the CRB bods.
