If someone is in court today (Magistrates) is it possible to view a transcript of the proceedings online anywhere?

Short answer, no, they don't record Mags Courts.
You might find a summary online, but I'd ask around the local media who might have had a reporter there.
Try https://www.judiciary.uk/judgments/ choose the Court in the subject field

Very very long shot, in that we only covered specific cases of interest back in my day in the 90s, when local media actually had staff.
Better get down there yourself OP.
