Just bought a Coopers Pilsner Home brew kit - says on the instructions to add 500g Coopers Light Dry Malt Extract + 300g dextrose. Phoned up the home brew shop and told me to ignore this and just add 1kg of sugar. Anybody used this kit, what did they use and how did it turn out?

I've brewed other Coppers ales, but never a pilsner. They've always turned out ok.

You can used brewers sugar, up to a kilo is normally alright, but any more will start to 'thin' the beer out a bit.

Personally I always use Light DME and would probably add 1kg of it. Last one I brewed I used 500g of it with 500g of wheat malt extract - came out pretty good.

Try either, then try the other next time and see how they turn out. If it's anything like ale it'll be hard to really **** it up so bad that it's undrinkable 😛

All kits come out OK for me with just 1kg of white sugar.

Just enjoying the results of the current one now...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 😆

I am just drinking a pint of Coopers Ginger Beer

Bootiful

I have a bucket full of Muntons Connisor Bitter to bottle tomorrow and I will be putting a brew of Coopers Lager on tomorrow

Happy days

To answer your question I have sold folk in my area Coopers european lager and they brew it with 1kg of sugar

Light DME now I may well give that a go

I have only ever had one failed brew, and it was this one. I used the malt extract they recommend. The brew was absolutely rank 🙁 it had that distinctive home brew potatoey taste.

It's wierd, their ginger beer is a real favourite!

Problem is I cannot get any more Coopers ginger beer from my suppliers 😥

Guess the last 2 I have will have to be withdrawn from sale 😉
