My right eye is quite red and is gumming up when closed. Left is OK at the moment and a quick trawl on 'tinternet suggests bacterial conjuntivitis. I wear contacts so I'll stop doing that for a while and wash my eye out with salted water - but just wondering if there were any pearls of wisdom from others who have had it.
Please wash your hands! Conjunctivitis seems to go around like wildfire.
Not many people realise but you can actually pull your eyeball out about 6 or 7 inches, and give it a rinse under freshly boiled water from teh kettle.
Will cure the infection in no time*.

So the P in DrP stands for "pusher" good name for you profession. 😉
🙂
I'm not affiliated with that thing above. BTW - I saw an advert on TV!

DrP, by freshly boiled water I assume you've let it cool down first 😯
OP, yes it's a PITA, occasionally we've picked it up from the kids. It's very contagious so keep your hands clean and the eye "washed"
Well that joke backfired didn't it....!
You know you can't pull your eye out 6 or 7 inches either??!!
DrP.
Should stick to his day job and give up internet jesting.

You know, one can buy very effective ointment for curing pink-eye from the local pharmacy.
And wash ALL your sheets and pillow cases in a boil wash. And if you wear eye make-up (not judging) throw it all out and replace it. The same goes for any eye crèmes.
Been to the opticians. He thinks it may have started as viral but could be some bacterial infection in it now. Still just in one eye though and am now using Optrex infected eye drops.
Optician also said that a cooled down camomile tea bag might help as a cold compress type thing. Might give that a miss for now. And as for Dr P's advice, I didn't try and remove my eyeball to give it a scrub, but I did used water from the kettle that was a bit hot, so letting it cool down more in future.
And as for Dr P's advice..
😕 [facepalm]

Thank god you didn't suggest a wire brush and Dettol DrP 😯
What, you mean standard pile treatment??

I think the important thing is making sure the bloke with laryngitis is at the front of the queue for the brush.
