Hi All,
My WIFI at home is crap or the signal around the house so....
Do I get a better router because my neighbour's signal is better from my house than from my router. He gets his Broadband from BT and I get mine from AOL. We have the same BT line in into the houses and unfortunately the line cannot be improved as we live off the beaten track. Also, when I connect to his BT internet everything seems quicker compared to mine even though the strengths are supposed to be the same! Is that right or do BT generally make their broadband better than AOL etc?
Your wonderful advise would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
When we first got our wifi we had major problems with signal strength.(virgin) We eventually changed the band we were on,(I think options are 1 - 13) and that helped a lot. I'm no expert but it might be worth investigating.
where is your router situated - if in the lead-lined cellar, move it
try plugging your computer into the back of it on ehternet. If that makes no difference then it's not the wifi at fault. If so, have a look at how you connect to the phone line - best to plug router into the master socket (if you have one)
