Please help I am not very good with the tech side of computers . switched on last night and tried to play some music whilst surfing, but got message that cannot play due to device fault. I tried all the different players but no luck, I had a quick look in the sound manager thingy and it said all working properly.

Anyone got any ideas help very much appreciated. 🙂

Try right hand clicking on the 'My Computer' icon. Menu will come up - select 'Manage'. An application called 'Computer Management' will appear - double click on 'Services and Applications'in the right hand panel. Then double click on 'Services'. Scroll down until you see one called 'Windows Audio' select it and then click on the right hand button on it. Now select the restart option to restart windows sound.

If that doesn't work i'll have another think.

Presume you've tried turning it on and off.

also sometimes fixes it if you unplug the speakers, reboot & then reattach them
