Hey all,

sure someone on here will know how to prevent/cure this..

My desktop monitor reverts back to the lowest resolution when returning from a brief standby period. The resolution settings don't change either, at least on the settings I can see.

All the icons on the desktop and any open windows now appear huge, like I have some kind of viewing difficulty.

It's a standard acer monitor and it doesn't always do this either. Restart sorts it each time, but I can't always do that when working.

thanks all

Have you tried a new/replacement data cable for the monitor ( assuming of course that it is well connected at both ends at the moment ) ?

Don't use standby. It's a pain in the ass and idiosyncratic issues like this are all too common.

Serious answer; are you using the latest drivers for your graphics card?

Oh, wait, you're on about power-saving the screen, aren't you. Ignore that first sentence then.
