My GFS laptop has windows vista, i want it to run windows 7 (which it will)
She has 11.5gb of data on her laptop. If i create a backup using the backup tool in vista how do i then get the data back onto her laptop when i have installed windows 7?
Would it be better to create a real direct "copy" of the required files and then drag/drop them onto the newly built machine?

If you're wiping the Vista install, I'd copy them to something external
If you're upgrading, there's a file transfer wizard thing but I'd still put them on an external source first

As said - I'd back it up externally

Personally, I'd do both (-:
The transfer wizard thing will export settings, wallpaper and all that jazz, if that appeals.
