My mum had an email the other day which looked like a genuine one from windows hotmail saying that due to a recent issue she needed to log in with her email and password .......she's 65 and can't really use computers apart from buying off eBay and amazon !! When I had a look it was definitely a blag email as none of the links did anything BUT when you filled in the password it did take you to one place and then to hotmail. I went on to hotmail the normal way and changed the password but I'm now concerned as to wether they could now be permanently logged into the account and OR if they could get any card details or anything ? She doesn't do Internet banking but she does use a few debit cards for purchases , any advice much appreciated ?

If someone has intercepted the userid and password, they may well attempt to try it on other sites too (lots of folk use the same passwords for everything). Make sure you get her to change passwords on everything else she uses too.

Download malwarebytes and run that to make sure there's not something else lingering on her PC.

If you logged into the fake email with your actual password?? Then do as druidh advices, if you used a fake password then what you have done should suffice, although if she uses a handful of sites then you could easily change the lot.

Also I know people a fair bit younger than your mum, who can't use ebay etc so she's doing alright! Hell, even I struggle with all the ebay sub menus!
