Looking for a single stove for general 'park at' campsite use.

Cheapest option at £15 is a common butane stove but don't like how the gas canisters are not reusable/recyclable in any way (grrr...)

The coleman on the otherhand £40 ish uses petrol or own brand coleman liquid.

Any suggestions on which path to go down?

used several of the first ones and they are quite good - nice and stable lots of heating power etc...

second one could suffer with stability issues like the more common gaz stoves http://www.towsure.com/product/2090-Campingaz_Twister_Stove_-_Manual_Ignition just a guess tho.

i'd be tempted to go for a double burner grill combo - lets you do toast!
or maybe single version (no toast tho)

Thumbs up for the Coleman Sportster. The power output is great and it boils super quick. I don't bother with the Coleman fuel, I just use petrol. I've not suffered from any stability issues.

Sure there are cheaper stoves on the market but I know if this one ever packs up then I wouldn't hesitate to go and buy another.

I posted this a while ago.
I haven't been dissapointed in my choice, not only does it boil quicker than the adverage kettle, it makes a good job at being a proper cooker as well 🙂

I had one of those Coleman ones.

The fuel line clogs eventually, and it's virtually impossible to find a replacement, and completely impossible to clean effectively, but I feel I had fair useage out of the stove before it did (it got used a lot).

Definitely go for one over one of those butane ones, though. You'll save the money in fuel costs before too long, and petrol stoves are much nicer to use (if a little more fiddly to light).

coleman stoves are amazing. Have had several all have been brilliant. Spare parts are easily available through coleman in the states. Very good service and also a fishing tackle place in kent should b easy 2 find on net. Stoves work out really cheap to run and very powerfull. Always use super unleaded and you shouldn't have any problems with the generator blocking. Coleman fuel works out very expensive. I know have the 2 burner stove which is brilliant and opens up many more gastronomic possibilities. Happy camping.

There is no rule I know of that says you have to landfill them.
I'm pretty sure they are recyclable, at least my 'dustman' have always taken them along with the rest of the cans & stuff*.

*They may not be looking for non-recyclable material, but then they still don't like certain plastics which they chuck back in my box when they sort it.

They def don't recycle them here in Bristol. Either via rubbish man or at the waste depot.
