Ok, a long overdue purchase of everyday clothing is required before I become an even bigger embarrassment & disappointment to my family. I recall a thread on here a couple of months ago requesting sites for mens clothes and having seen a few things I actually liked (unlike me) I failed to actually buy anything (very like me).
Forum searches have yielded nothing so could someone please point me in the direction of some decent gear.

Thanks

personally, I find buying clothes/shoes online a waste of time. They never fit.

Some high streets and shopping malls have clothes shops for men you know 😉
I think the laydeez call it "retail therapy"

Erm, where have you bought your clothes from in the past?

Anyway - for all round cheapness and some good stuff if you are prepared to trawl - TK Maxx. You can find stuff for your everyday chav, fashionista, Mr sensible or wannabe country gent, all pretty much on the same rack.

embarrassment & disappointment to my family

I can't think why supercyril .........it's not every man who can deal with the perplexing and bewildering challenge of clothes shopping.

Specially if they haven't got a woman to do it for them.

EDIT : I've just seen this

My wife had it done about 3 years ago. She wears glasses to drive again now.

What's your problem ?

It's not that I am unable to do it, it's just that I find going shopping torture. Partioularly jumble sales like TK Maxx.
My wife has tried in the past but it usually ends in unworn clothes or a trip back to the shop for her.

TK Maxx every time for me - apart from jeans/combats as I can never find them in my size there so I often get those from Gap or the Next sale online (just get a shed-load delivered and see which ones suit, return the ones I don't want back to the shop in town).

I don't actually think I have bought a pair of shoes outside of TK Maxx for about 8 years.

Marks and Spencer. Quick, painless, good quality, reasonable prices. Their cord jeans are excellent value and look OK on a cyclists' legs and bum: Cords

I hate shoppiong but find TK Maxx ok when quiet and I have plenty of time. Easy to get whole piles of stuff and try it on to see what looks ok, without being hassled by sales people. Also you don't see every man and their dog wearing it, as per next etc.

I have quite a stock of Howies clothing, almost all bought in sales.

You appear to be a tad confused concerning gender roles - you should wear what your missus tells you as she will know what makes you look gorgeous and handsome, same goes for haircuts btw. Apparently.

I turned 40 this year, but in my head I'm still half that.

Day to day attire is jeans and t-shirt; something from http://www.lastexittonowhere.com/ or otherwise 'amusing' possibly. I've been thinking that perhaps it's time I should be looking for something a little less "90s student" but I'm utterly at a loss as to what that is. The idea of a nice pair of slacks and a comfy knitted jumper from M&S, along with a nice pair of brown brogues, fills me with horror.

What is your average in-denial-about-middle-age geek about town supposed to wear these days? Cons and a hoodie? Polo shirts? Flat cap and donkey jacket? I have no clue.

I think standing fashion advice from women to men is 'just wear whatever you want, because no matter what look it is you're trying to achieve you'll just get it wrong'
