I've just feasted eyes on this beast for the first time... oh my god - what a monster. I'm genuinely making plans to go to a car festival just to hear it! 24 litres of airplane engine offffti!

500 odd horsepower "and essentially no front brakes" haha! seriously awesome engineering which ticks all my boxes!

How do people even come to own these beasts?!

Amazing. How many miles (or fraction of a mile) does it do to the gallon? They don't seem to quote that figure in the write up unless I've missed it.

Watching that 1932 footage, those drivers had some kahunas! No seatbelts and just perched on top of the cars almost.

5mpg according to wikipedia.

I like the Fiat Mephistopheles just because it looks bonkers, still not as mad as the Brutus Bomber though.

I relocated the Railton Special 20 yrs ago and got to sit in it, John Cobb must have had very big one to drive it as it had two of the Napier Lion engines and held the land speed record at 394 mph.

It was a beautiful peice of engineering it drove front and rear axles from seperate drive trains as there wasn't a transmission strong enough for both engines together.

Saying that I prefer the Napier Railton...

Packhard Bentley? Just the 42 litres. Flame proof head gear required.

Neddraiper yes that the one! (The MSI in Birmingham had an amazing collection... the thinktank exhibition space is great for some things but only holds a fraction of an amazing collection)

I saw the Napier Bentley ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napier-Bentley) race at Outland Park in the 1980's, a 24ltr Sea Lion engine and with 12 cylinders backfirng on the overrun when entering into a bend could be heard all over Cheshire!

It raced neck and neck with a Morgan 3 wheeler ( https://www.mtwc.co.uk/sporting-home-page-2/), a sight to behold as the Bentley hit the brakes cornering like a supertanker, whilst the Morgan shot past the inside with the driver's elbow almost touching the floor, then the Bentley blasted past again in full sound and fury on the following straight.

Is that "Babs?" or is it another of Count Zborowkis's cars?

To my mind that's about where the looks of cars stopped inmproving. I'll chuck blower Bentleys into the nice pile as well but after that, yuk. Biiig skinny wheels are where it's at with no coverage.
