I've got the Aldi Hurricane. I look forward to seeing what decals are in it.
I was going to put my FW up but I don’t think I’ll bother now 😀😀
I’m still working on the Italeri truck, it’s fighting me all the way
I've just chucked a Hasegawa 1/72 Tornado in the bin cos it looked shite, by far the worst job I've ever done since I was 6. The kit itself was ok but I made a right balls of it in more ways than one.
I've kept the wings though cos they were resin ones with the flaps dropped.
The A1H Skyraider I'm on with doesn't look as bad. Thankfully.
Some slow progress.

The paint job is way more complicated than I expected.
Very nice!
Vigilante? Nice! Always fancied a crack at some of those Vietnam era USN jets - a lot to choose from.
Almost (after 3 years on and off!) finished my Revell 1/32 Heinkel 219 - but it’s huge and very delicate and I’ve no idea where I will put it (pics later)..
Crusader, but I have got a Vigilante too.

...and a Tomcat.

...and a Phantom.

...and a Hornet, Intruder and A7 Corsair still in their boxes.
Scania truck is finished. It fought me all the way but I think the results are worth it.

Still fighting me !
V. nice.
Nearly there...

Are the they supports from the Lego Saturn V?
Nice, I do like the Vought Crusader and Corsair II. 🙂
Looking good. What scale?
I’ve got a 1/48 A7D/E in the stash. And a 1:24 mk1 Renault 5. And a 1:35 T-55, a Type VII u-boat, a 1:24 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider and a tiny scale 747
Are the they supports from the Lego Saturn V?
Yes
What scale?
1.72
Tamiya Countach!
I had one of those as a kid, in fact I think I had two. Sprayed it white over the red plastic and it came out pink. Obviously neither me or my dad had heard about primer.
Just finished the Airfix 1/48 Sea Fury.

Nice. Got any more pictures?
Very nice. Time was you could only get a 1/48 Sea Fury by Trumpeter, not cheap
That’s lovely Rockhopper. I’ve got one in the stash and can see a few more in my future.
(Edit to say I hate to mention it, but check the arrestor hook)
Arse! I snapped the bloody thing off three times and didn’t notice.... It’s a nice kit for £25, Airfix have come on massively since I first built one about 35 years ago. But also the tools, paint and glue etc have improved which makes it quite easy to turn out a decent model. Even so when I compare it so some other on this page it looks quite average!
Very nice indeed Rockhopper - I've got one of those to make myself!
it looks quite average
Bollocks. It looks spot on!
I’ve done the Hobbycraft and the Falcon vac form on the past. I think you’ve inspired me. I like the pre-shade effect.
The Sea Fury is very nice.
Finished.

Nice work! You're getting very good at these HtS!
I'd love to have the time to spend learning how to do these models justice!
'It looks quite average'
Lots of years ago a mate of mine started saying things were 'average' if they were actually very good & 'absolutely average' if they were really really good.
So I reckon 'quite average' is somewhere in between.
Nice work!
Thanks.
Next up....
This!

but 72 times smaller.

Nice work with the Crusader! And good luck with the Matchbox/Revell Victor. I have a box with one of those in it, plus enough add-on bits to thoroughly intimidate me out of every starting it...
I've got two of them that I'm going to build in parallel. One out of the box, one with all the resin, white metal and photo etch. There was a row on Britmodeller (yes, I know) and I responded like it was STW with pictures of Ron Burgundy and Father Ted. As a result I "won" a Victor and all the bits.
Initial impressions are that, with a bit of work, it will be OK.
Check this out.
I love this thread and am very jealous of the skills. But what I don't get is how much time you have to build and space to store/show them. HtS in particular seems to be knocking two or three out a week. Kudos.
It may seem that way, but I started the Crusader last June and in the last 7 months I've only done that and a tiny little FW152.
Storage is in my lad's room or a box under the bed.
Update on the P51D. The black primer had a few spots on it that I tried to sand off, big mistake as it started peeling off!
I hit it with some 1500 wet and dry and managed to save it.

Next up some Vallejo Metal Colour (aluminium), first time I've sprayed this paint and I was impressed. I will definitely use this again.
Olive drab on the top surfaces and it's stating to look ok.
I used my new Harder and Steenbeck Infinity airbrush on this and it was fantastic, the Iwata is going to be relegated to varnishes now!

Looking good. I've got a better airbrush than the eBay cheapy that i've been using, but i'm too lazy to clean it up. I shall have to give it a go now.
Meanwhile, I've been battling with the Revell Victor K2 and it is nowhere near as terrible as the reviews would have you believe. Well worth £15, but not something that can be chucked together over a weekend.

Finally, did anyone see the James May thing on BBC4 last night about Hornby/Airfix? Well worth a look.
I enjoyed the documentary.
LOLed at the brand new Airfix model having moldings 1mm out.
Destroying all of the old tooling was criminal. It costs nothing to keep them.
I like building old kits from my youth. If you buy one that was tooled in 1968 you have to expect that the detail will be a bit "off", as long as you know it is old and the price isn't "premium" then so what?
I would have thought that there would have been a market for them, as long as it still goes together and isn't completely worn out, if they were branded in a way they that explained they were dated.
Airfix say on their web site that much of their old tooling still exists and they are in the process of re-releasing some of the old kits. Maybe its the really old stuff thats gone? (I didn't see the TV show).
All the recent kits I've built have been very good in terms of fit etc. I did byy a Corsair in error which turned out to be an old tooling and that was shockingly bad in comparison!
But if you know it is going to be "shockingly bad" and are on a nostalgia trip then that is OK. I've got a Revell TA 152 from a 50 year old tool. It is rubbish compared to a modern one, but at a fiver I saw it is a challenge and it turned out OK.

Ancient kits in brand new boxes are a different matter.
Airfix and re-issuing the Saturn V. I had it as a kid, but can't justify getting it again. Not because it is bad, but because i've got the Lego one. 😀
