It's the anger that I find really weird.
I like cars but not enough to argue about them
Anger? Have I missed a bit, who's angry?
I gather a woman is to be politically correctly enrolled in the disaster, no doubt it will be one of those the BBC constantly likes to annoy us well spoken people with, an 'estuary' or even worse Liverpudlian accent. I do so hope it fails..
CE is not funny. Lousy jokes. His voice is annoying.
🙄
Anger ?
Nahh, mild annoyance maybe. Don't go confusing the real world stuff that matters with stuff that doesn't matter.
My beef is with the BBC and it's limiting viewpoint and even more limiting choices. But we don't have a thread on that so I'm in here with a trebuchet throwing bowlders every now and again, from a safe distance.
Yeah, I think we've got that you don't like CE and are in love with JC, chew
although let me guess some people hate Chris Evans, some people love him. Some people hate top gear, some love it.
Strangely enough I don't particularly like CE, like TG (before I really went off JC), but think CE on TG might be a good choice.
aracer - MemberYeah, I think we've got that you don't like CE and are in love with JC, chew
Or you can say you are in love with CE but not me ... 😆
Good call, I'm definitely not in love with you.
...but see post immediately above yours
It's the anger that I find really weird.
It's not actual anger.
It's just a few people that like to think they are Charlie Brooker, that's all.
Not read any of this [ skimmed this page]as I just dont care
Good interview on Radio 4 media show about 30 minutes ago* with CE and the BBC 2 controller. Some of you may wish to miss the second part as she is a woman.
* will be on iplayer
Evans has confirmed that one of the presenters will be female.
Occam's Razor says Evans, Plato, Perry.

Summary for those of us interested, but CBA listening? 😉
Out of interest, what is your opinion of TG, JC and CE taking over?
I'll admit when I first read the thread title I misread it as 'Ched Evans to lead top gear line-up'.
Naturally it got my attention..
I really like Chris Evans, he transformed the Breakfast show, pushed R2 to an all time high in ratings. Huge success for the BBC. Also a genuinely nice bloke, very generous and has raised millions for comic relief.
Which was in 2005, which coincided with me starting to listen to BBC 6Music, not a coincidence, either.
He irritates me on the radio, even more than Keaveny, amazingly, and I don't see myself watching TG in future.
Because my dad gets The Mail, I look through the magazine on Sundays, especially CE's car review; he may be a petrolhead, and love cars, but he's remarkably ignorant about them at the same time, I've noticed plenty of factual errors in his reviews, so I'm not encouraged by his taking over.
Oh, BTW ernie, your remark about ginger being a lifestyle choice is a spectacularly stupid and ignorant thing to say, even by your standards as a resident troll.
You really ought to be bloody ashamed of yourself. 🙄
I'll expect that Chris Evans will probably be accompanied by a woman and a black/Asian person.
As loddrik I too read the title as "Ched Evans" first
I'm gonna be a Top Gear presenter.
Listen to the Chris Evans Radio show in the morning for details.

I'd sooner repeatedly slam my nuts in the kitchen drawer, but thanks.
I didn't suggest a critique of his show, just listen for details on how to become a co host.

Surely he was just angling for a reaction from someone with an irony bypass though?

I am dead excited
I love the show
It will change but not really
we need a woman presenter
I love the show
It was all produced and scripted and i like to script and produce

And, he's not even a real [s]hamster[/s] ginger. Any more, anyway.
Can't wait for more races with nail-bitingly close finishes. Proper edge of your seat stuff.
TG threads are like catnip to you, aren't they DD? 😀
Hope all's well!
Without checking back Flash, I reckon you've posted way more on the last few TG threads than I have. Mostly whinging about people whinging about TG IIRC.

🙁
Well I notice that you didn't pull me up for saying "being short is unBritish".....so at least that's something we can agree on 🙂

Oh dear maybe I need to interject here to point out us victims of this lifestyle choice of vertical deficiency do have a sense of humour, unlike the other victims of their lifestyle choices, gay, black, ginger and socialist all of which are decidedly un british or there would never have had to be a climate of positive discrimination in their favour.
Meanwhile what do you think my chances are of being selected as a Top Gear presenter, I've practised my piece to camera, but I do have issues with pedal reaching on certain car models.

I think the most realistic of any of these was the cross-London bike v tube/lightrailway v boat.
The rest were utter bollocks and tiring as knowing its faked purely for entertainment rather than 'could it be feasible'? made me switch off.
Hammond suffered abit and had some close misses so I believe he was pegging it too.
What genuinely made me laugh were the various foreign Stigs 😀
One of todays papers claims that Jodie Kidd will be a 'female element' as required by Cohen to soften the male domination/atmosphere of the show.
Has he seen her on C5? Cringeworthy.
I quite like Chris Evans.
Yes, of course it needs a female presenter.
Some of us went to mixed schools and actually like women.
🙂
Suzi Perry - not seen the Gadget Show, but she was excellent presenting Moto GP - got stuck in, really knowledgeable.
We all know VBH is superb, Jane Omorogbe is pretty decent too.
There's enough talented people out there.
Guy Martin has got to be involved somehow - he's the new Noakes, innit?
Moira Stuart reading the news, obvs.
Meanwhile what do you think my chances are of being selected as a Top Gear presenter, I've practised my piece to camera, but I do have issues with pedal reaching on certain car models.
Maybe having your teeth whitened might help 🙂
As for the female presenter, I wonder if there is any relevance in Kirstie Allsopp appearing on TFI last week ❓
VBH - so obvious and so right
Suzi Perry - not seen the Gadget Show, but she was excellent presenting Moto GP - got stuck in, really knowledgeable.
😯
Are you ****ing insane? She was awful, just spouting idiotic inane pointless drivel, added to the fact that she has the charisma of a turnip, she would be a disaster.

Careful now or he will give us that lecture about how socially awkward we all are around people and of course the womenz

What are you saying? Does my breath smell?
It wouldn't help they turned me down for the police because of the 5'6" height restriction, then let small women in, and black and gay ones, how fair was that?
Gotta say, be well happy to see VBH in the lineup. She can properly drive, too (in comparison to Clarkson or Evans or - well, any normal person, really).

You need to tick more minority boxes. Have you thought about dyeing you hair ginger? Or choosing a more niche sexuality?

If you really wanted in you could have had gender reassignment surgery, so no sympathy here 😉
Don't really understand all the flapping over this, happy to take or leave Chris Evans at least he's got a healthy interest in cars.
Fingers crossed for VBH, Tiff or Plato to be joining him - it's about time that Top Gear had a presenter that could actually drive a car with some competancy!

So is that not Un British? I've hidden my guilty relationship with MissVera dot com for what seems like forever, I'm not convinced it will help me in my plan to be the replacement 'short' Gingergear presenter..
Must say, six pages in just over 24 hours, the blokes almost as divisive as the one he's replacing.
This lot could start an argument with themselves.
I heard that the BBC are opening up one of the presenter slots to US lot (well the public, which I guess includes STW'ers). You simply have to apply for the Job. How exactly I don't know but suggest it'll be by some social media wobbly iPhone recording posted all across the internetz....
I don't have the link, but I did hear it on the News yesterday..
Off you trot, could well be your new carear along with CE and JK... and lets face it I guess some of you would love to be in the middle of that duo 😆
This lot could start an argument with themselves.
No they can't
Want the job? Details here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-33180779
On Thursday's radio show, Evans gave details of the audition process, which invites applicants to post a video on an as-yet-to-be-revealed website, from Friday, 19 June.
The videos must meet the following criteria.
• Applicants must be over 16.
• They should talk direct to camera.
• Videos should be shot "from the waist up".
• Cars should not feature in the video.
• No stunts.
• No gimmicks.
• Entrants must be knowledgeable about cars "because Top Gear has to have an authenticity".
• The video must be no longer than 30 seconds. "If it is, we won't watch it."
All my waist down videos are less than 30 seconds 😉
As they already have the ginger presenter box ticked I'll have to focus on some other niche angle (niche sounds sooo much more STW than minority). Unless they go for a full sweep of ginger gorgeousness, CE, me and Gillian Anderson 😀

Twas what I've been on about and it's you lot us vertically challenged are discriminated against due to camera height and pedal distances, I've rehearsed my piece to camera several times, but even with a extra long selfie stick all you get is the background and my well articulated voice.
I assume that SurfMatt will be entering this, as he is the world's greatest driver...
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/bbc...-BBC-asked-me-to-return-as-Top-Gear-host.html
Clarkson said: “I had a meeting with a BBC executive last week and they asked if I’d come back to Top Gear."
However, the BBC quickly denied the claim, stating: "We haven't offered another Top Gear contract."
Is it just me, or is there something subtle but also overly specific about the BBC's denial...
Sounds like they had a chat with him, possibly setting out exactly how much humble pie he'd need to eat. And that he didn't fancy it.
The reception to the Evans announcement has been positive enough for them to forget him now anyway IMO. One poll I saw was 60/40 against, which is actually really good I reckon. Ben Affleck would have been on less than 10% after the Batman announcement.
I hate to bump this bizarre thread, but the ginger one is currently being interviewed by the [insert insult of choice] on a TG re-run on BBC3 at the moment 🙂
Interview on R4 Media Show is worth a listen if you want his side of the story...

What a pretentious article. I really dislike the writer.
The Graun goes gonzo.
I really dislike the writer.
"...for years now, a vast, gaping inter-dimensional sphincter, the size of a gothic cathedral rose window, has throbbed and dilated silently at the heart of the BBC buildings on Upper Regent Street, belching fossil fumes and foul thoughts from a dark realm of negative space. I saw inside the pulsating meat oculus once, caught unawares as I stumbled across the Dave channel late at night, drunk. There, between Lee Mack’s laughing face and Robson Green’s leaping fish, compelling footage of the fetid portal’s sickening interior unfurled endlessly into the small hours. I saw it, so you don’t have to."
Ha ha...I love Stewart Lee 😀
I love that. Just when you think he's going to rein it back and make a serious point, like David Mitchell might, he takes it up a level or two 😀
Seeing as we're discussing Stewart Lee and Top Gear in the same thread...
