Sunny yesterday and I noticed dust disappearing up an unused open fire that we have. I'm fairly amazed at how strong it was even though it wasn't particularly windy outside. Imagine how much heat must be sucked out!
Maybe I should install a third stove ๐Ÿ˜•

Could have been a guy casing the chimney to use as a toilet!

Black bin liner stuff with old papers and shoved up the chimney,

Works for us and cheap

I cut a piece of wood to the size of the aperture minus a few mm and tacked a concertina seal made from old innertube around the edge. Works fantastically in my mums house. If you do this be sure to fix a handle of some sort - easing removal, because the fit can be tight...!

Here's another vote for a black bag filled with crumpled newspaper. IIUR it leaves space enough into the corners for a little ventilation, which is good.
