Had a tough week and fed up of listening to the same songs over and over again. What songs have you got to lift the mood a bit?

This always makes me smile 😀 Anything that contains the lyric 'but what came first - 'The chicken nugget or the Egg McMuffin?' has got to be doing something right...

And Half Man Half Biscuit always make everything better (its quite sweary, this one)

I was going to post a typical STW useless response (i.e. something by TypeONegative, very gloomy and doomy) , then I realised it you gnusmas!

A lot of classic reggae from the 70’s always does the trick for me. That or some good old funk. Dr John and the Meters - Right Place (the whole album).

One of my ‘cheer me up tunes’:

If you like classical or opera I have 100 other suggestions

Sung by a child molester, but the best pop song ever:

If the music doesn’t cheer you up surely the clothes, hair and dance moves will:

Hearing Bonnie Tyler on Radio 2 this morning cheered me up no end
If you thought her voice was knackered 20 years ago it sounds like she has been gargling barbed wire in the interim and it sounded great

a real guilty pleasure 🙂

Just to note that linking 4+ videos in a single post tends to break the thread on iPad/iPhone and probably other devices, so best split them up. cheeerz

Come on Nettles, there’s a time and a place where it fits right in,

Agreed, and that time and place is the "Absolutely effing dreadful songs that are absolutely effing dreadful" thread, not this one.

there are worse songs too!

Again, agreed, but then again, whilst being smacked in the bollocks by a massive hammer is worse than being smacked in the bollocks by a small hammer, you're still getting smacked in the bollocks. Love Shack is an aural bollock smashing.

Hey, I dislike one song, the rest are excellent (esp the Northern Soul stuff).

Anyway, to continue the theme, and my sub-theme of 80's cheese, in a couple of months I'll be jumping up and down in a stadium singing this with tens of thousands of people in their 40s and 50s 🙂

Like this

from yorkshire so don't really like or approve of being happy very much, but this reminds me of the kids jumping about when they were small, and I almoost have to fight to keep the corners of the mouth turned down. Like they should be.

When I lived in the Issan region of Thailand you'd hear this music played everywhere - restarounts, gatherings, streets, parties.
It's never the same when it's not live of course, but it still cheers me up to hear it
