Losing the will to live investigating printers and then checking ink prices.
We need a wireless all in one that preferably has individual inks .
What have you recently bought?

The Answer is normally a HP printer with an Instant Ink account. Served us very well with home-schooling and two adults working from home for the last year.

Agree with HP route but good luck finding one of their cheaper printers in stock anywhere. I've been on the hunt for a while.

2nd HP with Instant Ink, seems to be ok for printing stuff for home schooling, just got to remember to keep it topped up with paper.

It's a bit noisy if I'm on a teams meeting so I have to mute my mic - I could move the printer to get round that

HP 5020 here but we paid £40 and got 6 months free ink using promo codes + 2 months for a delay in shipping.

HP are optimistically selling it via Amazon for a slight increase in price...

Just managed to get a used b&W laser as we were using so much ink on the Cannon 3in1 that it was becoming a ridiculous cost.
Home schooling has now gone black and white.. As trying to get the kids to resist printing everything was fruitless.

We've been on a brother B&W laser all in one for a number of years. Only just had to replace the stock toner (1200 prints?) with a high capacity original which although was expensive says it'll do 3000 prints. I think we'll be upgrading to a colour laser by the time we use that up. Total cost around £250 for 4200 prints so far. Just shy of 6p/p. How does that compare to ink and is it worth the extra to have colour?

yep HP all-in-one from currys for about £50 with instant ink account here as well. Printer still drops off the radar every now and then but is generally good and the instant ink thing is great and saves us money.

Bought an HP Envy photo 6230 and it arrived today.

Bit bigger than I was expecting but seems good so far. It comes with 4 months free Instant Ink which I can print up to 300 pages per month for the trial period.
After the trial I've subscribed to 50 pages per month for £1.99 which seems a good deal over 12 months. Can cancel anytime if it's not working out.

Bought direct from HP.

To buy cartridges from Amazon costs £33 for this printer for the black and tri colour cartridge so it seems cheaper to go through hp for the ink.

The printer wasn't cheap at £80 though.

That instant ink thing looks a good deal. Still don't like ink as our printer can sit doing nothing for weeks as a time and would dry out.

Got an Envy 5030 with instant ink too. Very much the way to go nowadays.

Still on instant ink here too, it's not quite as good as it was but still very good.

Does make me a bit neurotic when things print twice or I print a blank sheet though since it's not based on ink usage

I bought the cheapest Lexmark colour laser I could find back in March. £130i think. Only just had to order a replacement black cartridge.
The prints aren't outstanding, but it's cheap so good for home schooling

HP 5540 here. Half price plus a free year of instant ink. We now pay our £7 a month for ink.
I'm going to buy another when this one dies - and stay on HP ink.

Added curve ball... it needs to load it's paper in the front as it will live on a pull out drawer.

The HP 6230 loads paper from the front. Didn’t realise when I ordered it.
Also can print from mobiles devices as well. I’ve printed a few photos today from my mobile after unboxing it. Good quality prints.

Just mention again it is slightly bigger than I was expecting due to the front loading paper thing so check sizes if space is tight.

Just noticed you wanted individual inks. This has two cartridges. One black and the other does the colour.

Checking ink prices on eBay and they offer sets of 4 inks for the 6230. Do they manage to somehow squeeze the 3 colour inks in the space of a single cartridge or are they talking rubbish?

If it's like the 5030, it's a tri-colour cartridge, so yes, 3 colours in a single cartridge.

The printing head is in the cartridge I think. Meaning things don't dry out. Mine goes months with out use.
