Sansa clip 8gb, you should be able to get one for less than £40, very small, light, clips onto your belt/shorts/whatever.

You can't see what song is playing, but you can share tracks between computers just like a USB stick, unlike the iPod shuffle. (You can find them cheaper than the price listed on the Speedo website).
