Just ordered a new carpet for the bedroom. There is no gripper around the edge of the room, and Allied wanted £2 a meter to lay it, so I thought I do it myself before they came to fit it. (12m for £4 from Wilkinsons).
Anyway, how far away from the skirtingboard does it need to be?

Only about a centimeter, just enough so that they can put a slight roll on the edge of the carpet.
It probably depends on the type of carpet though, so might be worth ringing the shop and asking.
