[Closed] career change

i'm going into the last week of work at my current job, being made redundant on friday due to the economic climate. that's fine; i'm pretty sick of the place anyway and i'm getting a decent payout for 6 years of service.
i have 11 years or so experience of various roles in IT support from 1st line helpdesk through desktop support to 3rd line user admin/remote server support, but i'm considering possibly moving into web admin/development or some sort of DBA type work.
anyone got experience of switching to these kind of roles from where i'm currently at, and if so how did you do it? i don't have any certification at all currently either, just workplace experience...
