Anyone know anything about it or had it done?
I've got an old Japanese katana which is, potentially, over 500 years old.
Part of the handle was wrapped using paper as markers for the wrapping.
I was thinking if I could get the paper dated, it could help with identifying the age of the sword.
Thanks

I would speculate that an expert in such historical artefacts would date it more easily by design etc. But I could be wrong. Find out when Antiques Roadshow is in your area!

How accurate do you need it to be?
IIRC, good (expensive) carbon dating is accurate to a few decades.

There are loads of specialist antique sword valuers who can probably give you a decent appraisal before having to go to the lengths of carbon dating it
