Is it possible to have some window film applied that is not pitch black inside, but prevents people from looking in?

Not allowed on front seat pasenger windows or windscreen.

Just wear a hat, or balaclava.

Oh and they dont usually work at night with the internal lights on.

I put some medium dark type stuff on my Berlingo. You can still see in if you cup your hands around you face and press it against the glass - a bit obvious.

IMO the darkness has faded with age. It is not 'too dark' inside the car.

I was thinking of it in a minibus conversion - whip out back rows, put in a bulkhead with window in. Means driver has better vision (than panel van), but bikes and kit in back are less easy to see...

Contravision. Like you see on buses. Can be printed on. It's a vinyl product with lots of small holes in. Usually has a black adhesive side too. Quite expensive though.

Yes. That's what I have. Not like skaifan describes though, it's just a black film tint with (IIRC) 5% light transmission. You can't see in unless it's dark out and you have an internal light on. It can be very disconcerting if you're waving at folk outside and they seem to be ignoring you.

Inside - looking out.

I am sold on the van - just looking at what to pay/what model and persuading mrs_oab to take the chance of a new vehicle...
