The rear n/s light cluster in my mkII Skoda Octavia estate isn’t working, I’ve checked and replaced all bulbs and fuses (none were broken) and have checked the wiring from the light back as far as the c pillar (nothing loose or broken) and now I’m stuck, any ideas? (I’ve asked on briskoda but stew usually comes up trumps a lot quicker)

Check the earth connection in the boot or light cluster? No specific knowledge of Octavias but had this problem on a citroen some while ago and it was a dodgy earth

Check continuity (feed and earth).

Can the OS cluster be plugged into the NS wiring.  Immediately tells you if it’s the car or the cluster/specific section of the loom.

What happens when you turn the indicator on?  Most cars make them operate at double speed when a bulb fails to indicate (ha!) a problem...

The audible clicks are at double speed but the indicators in the wing mirror and front light flash at normal speed. I don’t have any gubbins for testing the wiring, however I’ll chat to the mechanics at work to see if they do. Good idea re swapping cluster, thanks, shall try that tomorrow
