My much loved Hebtroco canvas GVNR jeans have more holes in them than a presidential assassination plot, so they need replacing. Can’t grumble as they have lasted years. However, Hebtroco don’t do them anymore, so I’m looking for something else.
Can anyone recommend any?
I’m not particularly short, tall, fat, thin or muscley so a regular 34 waist 32 leg is all I need.
Anything at Community Clothing?
MEN'S CHINOS & TROUSERS - Community Clothing
Similar ethos to HebTroCo, I've got some jeans and t-shirts from them and the quality is outstanding. Just watch the sizing - they're 'actual' sizes, not, er, 'flattering' sizes like most are (i.e. the reason I've been wearing 34" inch jeans for 20 years is not because my waist size hasn't changed in 20 years...)
My go-to are Dickies, either 874 or 873.
Vs your Jeans vanity sizing - Size up by 2in on the waist on the 874 and maybe 1in or 2in on the 873.
Thanks. Was looking at them. Happy that the Hebtroco sizes are real and not "vanity".

Vinted is worth checking, I have sold HebTroCo stuff on there (that I no longer fit into) and bought Community Clothing (that I'm very much hoping I will fit into, their older stuff was labelled 32" an that's what I've bough)
Kuhl are my favourites
Pretty much just buy climbing jeans/pants now. Hard wearing and well cut. Black diamond dogma’s are my current favorite.
Kuhl are decent as mentioned above
I have a couple of pairs of Carhartt work pants - heavy cotton and very durable. Way better wearing than the Kuhl ones that preceded them.

the sizing thing is nothing to do with vanity. It's just not the 1920s so people don't wear trousers round their actual waist any more. So modern day waist sizes are an extrapolated measurement a bit like an 'effective top tube measurement' now that top tubes typically aren't horizontal.
Now that we buy clothes without going to a shop to try them on people now either take a tape measure to themselves or their clothes when buying online and noticing the difference between the garment label and their tape measure - but they are measuring their hips not their waist. Your waist measurement is above your belly button, so a garment labelled '34"' is a garment made to fit the hips of someone with a 34" waist, not one that measures 34"
Some manufacturers have changed their labelling to show the actual measurement of the garment (basically to help people who are measuring themselves rather than letting their tailor do it)- but if they are doing that they should really give the measurement a different name

your weight can increase or decrease by quite a lot and your waist size would change with it - not so much you hips (for blokes particularly). Your trousers from 20 years ago will probably still fit you
