Planning on doing a bit of travelling around soon. Public transport and a rucksack. So a pair of keks that are lightweight, non crumpling and would look OK for an evening stroll around an Italian city etc... I have a pair of drawstring trousers from uniqlo but they are quite baggy and look like pyjamas so a straighter leg preferred.
I'm thinking this is the sort of stuff Rohan do, but anywhere else i should be looking?
Fjallraven are always good. Quite a lot of them don't have the cargo or combat trouser look
These from go outdoors. Black Rab Men’s Tephroc Pants – GO Outdoors or do you want smarter?
As you say, Bags have been marketed as exactly this for many, many years (decades, tbh). They've branched out into other styles more recently. I've always been happy with mine, my wife's less keen on the look, so now I mostly wear them when she's not with me.

A bit smarter. I have a few pairs of walking trousers already. Cheers though.
I took a pair of these for that exact reason. They don't weigh much and are smart enough that they look OK if I ended up somewhere I needed to look respectable. Most importantly, they did not look like walking trousers...

Go Outdoors also do the Kuhl Rydr Lite which might fit the bill. They look quite creased straight off the line or out the suitcase being mostly cotton but the creases seem to go quite quickly after a few minutes wearing them.

Have you looked at Vaude then? They do a cotton cargo trouser called the neyland (in both normal and zip off) which is great for travelling and a non cargo version which I can't remember the name of.
Rapha do chino-type lightweight trousers, super fast drying. Smart enough for office wear but robust enough to wear for short cycle commutes.
I’ve got a pair Odyssey Centaur 3 in 1 Trousers. They are fairly smart and lend their hand to cycling (shorts or tapered legs) walking, evenings out. No crumples and they dry quick, roll up small etc.
I’m not completely convinced by the colours though, the black was very very black so I exchanged them for Sand, which is OK but a buff colour would be most versatile.
Golf stuff on decathlon. I have some winter and summer trousers. They are as good as the Rohan stuff at a fraction of the price.
No security zips if that bothers you.

Rohan have discontinued their ‘Bags’ line.
something lighter? I found the craghoppers nosilife cargos to be a great option. Other styles available too.
Craghoppers ‘Kiwis’ are popular, but too hot at this time of year.
Roark Layover Pants. Used them for a good few years when travelling for work (in civvies) and pleasure.
They do a pro version now.

Rohan still have a place for this kind of stuff. Smarter than outdoor gear, quick drying and few wrinkles is their schtick.
What's your budget. The onebag lot love the Lululemon ABC troos - https://www.lululemon.co.uk/en-gb/c/mens/bottoms?prefn1=collection&prefv1=ABC
Rohan is a good shout, as is golf troos
7 Mesh Glidepath trousers are pretty versatile.
I use them on my run and jog sessions and blend in on the walk bit, or on the bus to the start point.
Taken bikepacking for evening wear.. Very light and small to pack.

You had me worried there. Lost amongst all the Stretch Zip Off trousers, I found proper Bags still going for the moment at least. Maybe better get a couple of pairs to lay down in the bottom of the drawer.
Just got back from a couple of weeks travelling around Japan and my go to trousers ended up being a pair of Kirkland lightweight trousers from Cost Co. Very packable, smart and never crease. And cheap obvs
Patagonia terrebon are my go to lightweight travel trousers. Only criticism is no zips on side pockets. They do have a zipped rear pocket tho.
Tj recommends elasticated slacks for the more mature gent.
Troy lee skyline in black, my go to trousers as you can walk, cycle, dry easily, don't look out of place in restaurants. Cost c100 but last for ages. Zip pockets too.
The rapha are ok, but I prefer the skyline.
I used to travel with “kit” trousers but try to take more normal city clothes now. Spokes bulletproof chinos travel well but aren’t that light. I’m intrigued by their travel denim which might fit the bill.

I have a couple of pairs of those Spoke ones, they are worn most days and probably 3 or so years old, many washes and holding up well. They are extremely comfortable, feel as stretchy as a pair of joggers.
I have a pair of Patagonia Terravail Trail which might fit the bill. Very light, not too outdoorsy and quite smart. They were in sale on patagonia.eu depending on your size

If you're 32S I might even sell mine (too light for most my needs so not getting worn).
Cheers for the help. Quest concluded. Managed to box off a pair of these - should do the trick
If you can find them, Levis 511 Tech Pants are really good. I took two pairs to Mexico recently. Light, stretchy and cut like their jeans, they look smart, hang well and do not crease. They aren’t denim. I have them in blue, black and khaki and sources mine in the US on business. These may be the vwry same.
